I bought more of Kristin Hannah's books after reading, and LOVING, The Nightingale, hoping for some more brilliance. But, as is often the case, authors only produce one masterpiece. Her other books are good and well-written, but not as captivating and thrilling as The Nightingale. 4 stars

The book is slow for first half of the book... it almost feels like giving up but the story told inside the story is far more interesting than the book and it kept me going. The last half of the story is so unexpected and sad. Worth the read.
