2M x 620mm x 40 mmBought this to use for a music production desk, hence the length. Really really quick delivery, about a three day turn around. Good communication from the company, although it wasn't that easy to contact them (but that's Amazon's fault). I actually had to click on the Problem with your order to find out how to contact them. That appears to be the way to specify the customisation details that you want. Once I'd left a message for them, they quickly replied and the worktop arrived this morning.Couldn't be happier with it. It's a really really solid item. As other people have pointed out, it is really really heavy. I managed it on my own but only just, an literally needed about a 10 minute sit down after moving it.The customisation that I added was the smaller bevel on the edges, this was well worth it. It just gives it a slightly classier feel and a radius on two of the longer edge. Both of these are nicely done and give you more of a finished feel to it.The surfaces aren't smooth enough to take varnish or oil straight off, you will need to sand them down, but they aren't overly rough. They'll just need a little bit of work.The packaging was a little worrying as I kind of expected at least cardboard around the edges for protection, when all it actually is protected by is cellophane, but saying that, it arrived safely and undamaged.I'd guess that this is down to how it was stored in the van when it arrived. Basically there were loads of worktops stacked on top of each other (hence the cellophane would work in this case) and they were strapped very tightly together with, I presume the cellophane adding more friction keeping it securely in place.Like I said, the thing weighs a tonne so unless you preferably want at least two people to carry it. What would be useful would be to know the weight of the thing which doesn't appear to be published anywhere.

I built a bar last year and although I had a top on pine I didn’t like the finish so I ordered from these guys were very helpful and understood totally what cut and finish I wanted now I have oiled it looks proper nice. Solid beech 40mm I had to edges rounded off which makes it look like bar. Thanks guys great job.

I bought 2m of beech to make an 'ultimate' sit/stand desk setup. First and foremost, to get 2m of solid beech, for the same price as 1.6m of veneered hardboard from Ikea... it's difficult to be anything other than happy. That said, I feel the description needs to be changed to reflect what you receive.The listing says it will be triple oiled before it arrives. Not a drop of oil touched this until I got my hands on it. The pores were dry and open and 3 coats of danish oil later, it has brought out the best in the block and grain. However, I think I'm going to take a 600 grit sanding disc to the top to get the sort of finish I was hoping for, before re-oiling.I also requested a 6mm rounded edge all round. The only complaints about this are that there was a bit of burning on one of the edges (no worries, that's at the back of the desk now), and the vertical edges were untouched.Delivery was much quicker than the ETA Amazon provided and the lady who called to confirm I was happy with the delivery window, and to make sure my round edge requirements were taken care of in the manner I desired, was very friendly.I almost feel bad for only giving 4 stars because despite the gripes made above, this is still incredibly good value. If the listing said nothing about oiling and if one of the edges hadn't taken a burn I'd undoubtedly give 5 stars. There's no need to say you'll do something you're not going to do when you're offering hard wood worktops at these prices. So either update the description or follow through on all you promise to provide.The main takeaway: you're getting really good value for money, but be prepared to do a little work to get the finish you'd like from a piece of solid wood furniture.

I was looking for a countertop to use as desktop for some motorised table legs. I wanted something solid but also aesthetically pleasing and this worked greatThe top is solid and came cut to size. I routed the edges myself and used Danish oil to finish the top.There is a top good and a bottom bad face which is marked on the paperwork when received. The wood is quite knotty, not all straight grained beech so be aware, I don't mind but this does cause much darker spots when finishing. I did notice a slightly poor fill in the good side that had not been finished to a very high level (see photo).Overall I have been very happy with this and would recommend to anyone planning to use as a desktop.

The 27mm 720 x 1500 Beech worktop was ordered on 24th Sept and an email from Amazon received on 28th saying that the item was dispatched with an estimated delivery of 5th Oct. When the 5th Oct came and went I contacted the House of Worktops. They were very friendly and explained that they only delivered to Scotland every fortnight, which is understandable, and my worktop would be going out as scheduled that day. This was no problem as I wasn't in a hurry for it, but it's very confusing having Amazon sending you an email with incorrect dispatch information when they clearly haven't a clued what's going on. The worktop itself seems to be good quality and well worth the money.

I got the 2m - 70cm - 4mm Solid Beech Kitchen Worktop which is for my custom desk. I had to sand it down with 220 and 1000 grit paper for a smooth finish and apply Danish natural oil to treat the wood but I have enjoyed the process very much. This is me doing this for the very first time and it came out looking amazing. The wood looks solid and heavy which is exactly what you want.Delivery was really fast and securely packaged, highly recommend HOUSE OF WORKTOPS.
