How tall is the unit without the casters?

The casters raise the unit 2 inches. So the five drawer cabinet would be 24-1/4 inches

Are these comparable to the Ikea Alex drawer unit?

In relation to the Alex 6 drawer roller unit, yes they are comparable, but are not the same. They are the same height with the rollers attached, but this drawer unit is not as deep as an Alex unit and not as wide. The drawers, however, are deeper, but there is only five of them. Because it is smaller, the bottoms of the drawers seems to be a little more sturdy than the Alex drawers. I put too much weight on the bottom three drawers of my Alex units and it caused the bottom of the drawer to come out of the groove. Fixable, but annoying. These are a little more sturdy in their groove, but they are smaller, so, you know. The overall height of the drawers in both units is small. They cannot hold anything over 2.5-3.5 inches tall. And aren't meant for anything super heavy. However, the drawers are a little taller on this unit than either size drawer on my Alex units, which is why I prefer this one for the project I am working on. The Alex drawers are great though. They glide perfectly and look fantastic. These are great. They look nice and are more functional, at least for my purpose. If you are wanting a cheaper version of the Alex drawers, these should work just fine, but they are smaller.
