Leapfrog LeapReader Learn to Read, Volume 1 (Works with Tag)

My son has had his Tag reader for several years now, and as he started Kindergarten this year, we found it even more valuable. He simply loves to read and loves the fun that Tag brings to reading. These 'vowel' series of books (both short and LeapFrog Tag Learn to Read Phonics Book Series Long Vowels, Silent E and Y) have been great learning tools. They have helped him to learn the phonetics of the letters for certain, they use a lot of sight word reinforcement in simple sentence structure, have cute stories and characters, and all while making your child feel independent for be able to 'read' on his own. They are not quite as durable as some of the other Tag books, since they are not hardcover, but this also means we can put more of them in our LeapFrog Tag Storage Casefor in the car or long trips. I think these books are a great addition the ever expanding library of wonderful Tag books.

I love the Tag system, and I think it is a great learning tool for our Kindergarten homeschool curriculum. My daughter is a bit of a grumpy reader unless you get her on a great day, so it is important for me to have a variety of items like workbooks, books, DVDs, games, etc. for her to propel through reading. She likes the TAG system, and it is a great tool, but until she gets through the frustration of learning to read using phonics and sounding out words, this will be a challenge. She wants to rush, but this system is not meant for that. It is a terrific tool, but your child will not read overnight and may not "love it" for what it is - it's not playing with Matchbox cars or a Leapster, it is reading, so be patient and use in only small doses until your child's reading really takes off.

I bought these series of books for a friend whose four (4) year old child is about to start kindergarten in September 2017. At first We had a little issue getting the books to work with the pen but after another try we were successful in downloading the material.I can see from the reaction of the child that activities in some of the books are really excited as she couldn't wait to turn the pages without showing any sign of boredom. The audio on the tag is loud enough without being annoying. These books take you right down to the fundamental stages of learning as emphasis is placed on pronunciations and sounding of the words. The only reason for my one star deduction is for the difficulty I experienced at first.

I bought this for my granddaughter for Christmas. She turned 4 shortly after Christmas, so I bought it to give her a head start on reading and understanding what she is reading. She loves books so what better gift than Leap Reader. The books were durable and the pen instructions were easy. The only thing, the pen sensor on the tip, is very sensitive so be mindful of that while using.

I bought this set of LeapReader books to go along with the LeapReader pen I bought my toddler on a Black Friday special sale. Despite even THIS item being on "special" for Black Friday, the price on Amazon was considerably lower and I just couldn't pass it up. In fact, I bought all 3 volumes for my daughter. I love the Leap Frog products and find them to be high in quality... both content-wise and durability wise. As a teacher, this is very important to me. I'm thrilled to watch my daughter fall in love with reading as a result of reading these books! Thanks Leap Frog for making such great products and thanks Amazon for making them accessible to me!

We've used the leapfrog products with all of children (actually the same pen has been passed down through three of our girls and now onto our neice! The books didn't last but the pen is durable!) This product won't teach your child to read all on its own, but reinforce what they are learning and help make it a little fun. Our daughters would pull the " it's boring, I can't do it, etc. etc" routine and this helps with the games and different functions on each book. Requires some parent involvement at first, but after they get a feel for the different symbols they can easily go on their own. Love the leapfrog learning tools!
