MYNT3D Super 3D Pen, 1.75mm ABS and PLA Compatible 3D Printing Pen

We are thinking of getting a 3d printer and my daughter wanted to try a pen to see what she could make so to peak her interest I bought her a cheap one from ebay. It came with the wrong filament (abs not pla) and within 30 mins of using it the nozzle came off and it was broken so I searched around and found this one. The difference in quality is apparent the moment you open the box. She loves this one and finds it easy to use to design her creations.

After a month of active use: This pen is very comfortable to work with. It has a good weight and no issues with speed adjustment. The temperature control process is a bit inconvenient, but it doesn’t really matter if you stick to the same filament type. The nozzle broke after about four weeks of use — I’m not sure why, but I’ve ordered a replacement. Even if this pen completely broken and nozzle replace will not fix it, it was very good experience and interesting time!

Good quality and value for money

Best present i have ever bought. My granddaughter aged 10 absolutely loved it. Over christmas she did not have her phone nor tablet in sight, she played with this and made a 3d rose and a 3d eiffle tower, she got the hang of this really quickly and absolutely loved the present, which is high acclaim from a kid nowadays, this is for adults as well and all who buy this will have a great time using it. Not expensive for what it is, an amazing piece of tech and what you can make will surprise you. Our whole family loved this gift

The pen worked the first time, but after the first time it always pushed the plastic for a few seconds, stopped for a few seconds and pushed again. So obviously I look at their website for solutions and they direct me to open the pen and the metal cog that pulls the plastic had little bits of plastic in the grooves meaning it was half smooth and that half was not pulling the plastic. So I clear it, it works fine for the next 2-3 uses, then it happens again, so I do the same, I follow their instructions and open it, clear that stupid cog but this time after I close it, the pen wont turn on. Turned out this really thin red wire inside the pen got pinched by the clasp on the inside of the pen, so it wasn't visible, and was cut when resealing. That's a pen I used about 5 times, had to manually clean 2 times and then broke due to poor design. Wont be using Mynt again.

Great product I bought this for my 10yr old Granddaughter she loves it.

Has a learning curve to it. My 3D Pen never came with a manual, filament, or the tool to change temperature. Luckily I have filament I use for my 3D Printers. Yes 1.75mm filament works with this pen, as it's not explicitly stated. Need to adjust your physical speed, as well as the speed of the pen otherwise you'll have really thick spots, or really thin spots. It works, but mine was very clearly used. The ceramic nozzle is tinted red and had left over red filament stuck to it. Whoever used it or packaged it before I got it was a heavy smoker as it stunk. Turning it on and using it just gave off an extreme cigarette smell, absolutely horrid.

My kids love using this thing and make little objects for themselves to wear. Basically works like a (very cheap) 3D printer / glue gun combined. Does not come with much filament, they went through it within an hour but I found some filament on amazon that is a really great price and would probably take us a year to use.

This would get a heap more stars if it lasted longer than twelve hours. + Works beautifully out of the box. Set it up, load it with filament, and press the button. The pen extrudes goopy plastic threads, which harden almost immediately into approximately the shapes you intended to draw. It's lots of fun, but don't expect to suddenly "draw" anything usable or refined! - Failed the same day we opened it. Worked well for a while, then the nozzle stopped heating. On inspection it looks like the nozzle point has been shunted away from the nozzle body, splitting the nozzle assembly open (see image attached). My opinion is that this is a design flaw, so we'll ask for a replacement nozzle. Otherwise it's USD6 for a replacement + USD13 shipping, for another day's use. Feels like USD19/day is pretty expensive for a toy, even one that is this much fun when working.
