They work best at night or in a dark room with Christmas lights or other colorful lights being on. We took them out with us at night into a busy part of the city with lots of street and shop lights and tried them on---we could see hearts all over the place! It was really cool and I think anyone of any age would have fun with these glasses and they make great gifts (I even bought one for myself).
