My dad and I built a fairly complex model railroad table layout while I was in school in the early 2000's. It's quite a large layout and takes up a lot of room in their basement. I've lived on my own for 10 years now, but my dad and I have gotten back into the hobby. I wanted to be able to work on some of my old trains and build some custom DCC control boards as part of an improvement to our layout, but I also wanted to be able to do some stuff at my house away from the layout. I bought a simple loop of Bachmann EZ-Track and it went together perfectly and was enough that I could run a locomotive around on the floor. Combined with a DIY DCC base station (DCC++ EX) this was a functional enough test setup, but I've found myself wanting more and EZ-Track makes that very EZ indeed. Just buy additional sections and snap them in. Now my simple circle has turned into a much larger oval. I also bought a DCC turnout that also snapped right in and was easy to program. I plan on picking up more track in the future. It's nice that it's so easy to set up, take down, and reconfigure so I don't need permanent space for a layout. My little setup doubles nicely as a DCC programming track when I'm at my parents' house and we're working on the main layout.
