Molly's Suds brightens whites, but you can use it on regular clothes as well - it doesn't discolor clothes. Everything comes out of the washer/dryer smelling lemony fresh and not like chemicals. Love it! It can be a little pricey compared to bleach but I think it's worth it. This powder effectively whitened and brightened my towels. I can't speak to stain removal as I haven't had to remove any stains - though there was a shirt with my dog's muddy paw prints on it and that came out just fine (update: I had some white printed socks that were discolored on the bottom for a long time, and Molly's Suds took out the stain, so I'm impressed).

A: Yes!! It will work in cold water, we usually recommend hot water, but it doesn't have to be hot in order to activate our Product. We just suggest hot water because it kills more odor causing bacteria's.
