How many bags do I need for a 10 gallon tank?

The standard answer is a pound per gallon, so 10 lbs. The other person who answered probably got the 2 lb bag size.

Will they be white white and stay white after I use them in the succulent dish?

I've put them on top of the soil for my succulents and they have kept their color white. I've had them for maybe 3 months or so.
