Why is the cable longer than my garage door, and how do I choose the right size?

Pick by DOOR HEIGHT, not cable length — the cable wraps the drum, so it's longer than the door. 7 ft door = 8'6" cable, 8 ft = 9'7", 10 ft = 11'6", 12 ft = 13'6". Just match the variation to your door height.

Will this work with my extension-spring garage door?

No — torsion-spring systems only (spring on a shaft above the door with cable drums). The crimped loops won't fit extension-spring pulleys or S-hooks. If your springs run along the side tracks, this isn't the right part.

Can I use this cable if my old one was stretched or snapped?
