It was a perfect gift on Christmas for my son. He loved it!

Il libro è davvero carino! Storia ben strutturata, belle le illustrazioni, piacevolissimo da leggere anche per gli adulti. Purtroppo è arrivato con un angolo rovinato, ma non era un regalo, quindi va bene lo stesso.

Le père de Nikolas voyage pour le roi tout au Nord du Nord de leur pays, afin de prouver l'existence des elfes. Mais ne le voyant pas revenir, et lasser de devoir supporter sa tante acariâtre, le jeune garçon décide de partir à sa recherche. J'ai tout aimé dans ce roman. C'était prenant dès les premières pages, plein de rebondissements, d'aventures et émouvant bien sûr, sans jamais être mièvre. J'ai particulièrement aimé certaines découvertes que va faire le jeune garçon, sur son père notamment, je ne m'attendais pas à ça. J'aime les auteurs qui écrivent pour les plus jeunes sans les sous-estimer, et c'est clairement le cas de Matt Haig, pour cela un grand bravo, comme pour le ton du roman et les moments où il s'adresse à nous. Je me suis beaucoup amusée aussi, j'ai adoré cette version de l'histoire du père Noël où chaque élément est bien pensé, j'ai aimé faire la connaissance des elfes et ce qui leur permet d'arrêter de vieillir est une si jolie idée... Enfin, les illustrations sont sublimes, belles et étranges à la fois, et très nombreuses. J'aime cette générosité. Le livre a été adapté depuis et je suis maintenant très curieuse de découvrir le film et le visage du jeune Nikolas. J'ai un peu moins aimé la fin, pas du tout à cause de la manière dont ça se termine attention, mais plutôt parce que cela m'a paru un peu long et un peu plus brouillon que le reste. Ça ne m'empêchera pas de garder un souvenir joyeux de cette lecture et de lire la suite avec plaisir.

If the story wasn't good I could still very well use it as a stunning Christmas decoration. But luckily, the story was more than good. (but I still use it as Christmas decoration :D) This was the best Christmas book I ever read and I cannot wait to read it again! (I really want to add so many christmassy emojis into this review but unfortunately I can't. So just imagine them please.) It's been a while since I've last felt so much HATE for a character but Aunt Karlotta is really the epitome of cruel in this book and I hated her so much. I've read this book a year ago and still bristle with rage for her. And I actually found everything surrounding Aunt Karlotta to be a bit too dark and brutal for children. I LOVED the writing style of this book to pieces. On the one hand it's so easy to read but it's also incredibly beautiful written with a lot of thought put into it and this just makes the reading experience so magical. I really did not want this book to end. This book made me feel all the emotions and even made me cry in the end because I was so sad that this beautiful christmassy story was over now. (Although there are two sequels to it.) I just grew so emotionally attached to this book and its story and it really touched me deeply. CONCLUSION I am just beyond in love with this cover. I think that every proper Christmas book should have glitter on its cover. *-* And I actually prefer the paperback cover to the one of the hardcover. I loved this book so so much. It's the most festive and most christmassy book I've ever read and I really didn't want it to end. It's such a heartwarming, beautiful, and thoughtful story that goes so deep and is so so lovely. What more can I say? I just adored every aspect of this book so so much. RATING I merrily award this book with 5 out of 5 Christmas stars.

Ich liebe Matt Haigs Bücher! Habe inzwischen all seine Bücher gelesen, auch die Kinder- und Jugendbücher. Sie sind tiefsinnig, humorvoll und hinterlassen ein schönes Gefühl. Ein Abtauchen in eine andere Welt. Haigs Weihnachtsbücher sind besonders liebevoll geschrieben - und nicht nur für Kinder unbedingt zu empfehlen - übrigens auch ein tolles Geschenk für die Adventszeit. Ich hoffe, noch ganz viel von meinem Lieblingsautor zu lesen.

I have 3 boys and this book was perfect for them. Such an entertaining book with a great story! We look forward to reading the others in the series.
