Jordan: it does not -- you must know your focal length equivalent (i.e. Canon APS-C: 22.3 x 14.9mm, focal length multiplier = 1.6); thus, on an APS-C camera, a 50mm lens has the angles of view of an 80mm lens on a full-frame 135 camera, and you would use the focal length scale for the 135 format.Bear in mind, this is a telecoping viewfinder, not a true zoom lens: the image area gets smaller as you zoom out, and you will see the inside of the barrel; moreover, the corners are rounded-off in every aspect ratio.This is the same made-in-China piece of junk sold by CaVision, Optek, and others.A real Directors viewfinder is a true zoom lens using high-quality optics -- and is priced accordingly.I implore you not to waste your money on this.

Can the pocket mini go as wide as an 18mm or 24 mm lens in 16:9 format? (i read the opteka only gets as wide as 35mm in that aspect ratio.)

It depends. For 35mm yes, it goes from 18mm to 200mm... For Super 16 the range is 10mm-114mm and for AN is 35mm-400mm

Does the 35mm label indicades full frame 35mm cameras FOV?

It refers to Academy Super 35mm, which is the motion film standard. Closest consumer grade sensor in size is APS-C. Not entirely certain, but I think the anamorphic one is closer to 35mm Stills - there are copies of this that replace the labeling of anamorphic and super 16 - super 16 being nearly the same as Micro Four-Thirds.
