Reviews are generally accurate
Rated 4/5 on assembly difficulty, would hate to see a 5. Having built ROKR piano and cello music boxes, this carousel is much more challenging. See some beautiful paint jobs. Parts need painted before assembly but do not paint tabs otherwise you'll be sanding the paint back off the tabs. My kit came without the wax but left-over from other kits. Not only wax where indicated on gears but also it helps to get tabs into slots. Be careful, may need some glue to then keep it together. Many parts are tiny and fragile. The challenge is rewarding but my overall time was about 12 hours.

very fun, but not for beginners.
This product was amazing. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow, and there were extra pieces for the smaller ones, in case you lost them. The design was very cute and accurate, and i felt that it was a perfect difficulty level for me. (it was definitely hard)

Fun build!
Beautiful music box. A lot bigger than I imagined it wouldโve been. Made it for my daughter, she loves it! The instructions were easy to follow, amazing detail, and was able to build this one without breaking any pieces! Learned from building these wooden puzzles having super glue is super handy in case you do.

Challenging
Oh my goodness this was a lot more difficult than I expected! Iโve already broken a few pieces so you have to be very gentle! The instructions have no words so you really have to figure it all on your own. The pieces are tiny and there are a ton of them! Atm, I have a broken piece that Iโll need to superglue. To me, this is not a fun project sadly but Iโm going to try and finish it bc Iโm determined! I wonโt be doing this again! UPDATE: I once again tried but ultimately gave up, just seems impossible, the pieces keep breaking and they donโt assemble easily like you have to use force ugh, in the closet it went, waste of money :(

take your time and it will be beautiful
My daughter (age 15) loves putting together these models. This is her 4th one of this brand. You do need to be a a little gentle sometimes with the super thin pieces. The end result is always super impressive. Now to buld a shelf to hold all her creations.

Well I am glad that is OVER!!
Let me start by saying that I do mostly Level 5 puzzles. So, I am not a beginner or even a novice at this point. This puzzle tried every possible nerve I ever had. When I started, I had every intention of taking it back apart to paint it but that plan got shot down fairly quickly. Everything was going along great until I reached Step 2. Mind you, there was a lot involved in Step 1 so, it took a while to complete. Step 2 deals with these tiny little ridiculous pieces (Parts D11 and D 10) which break if you breathe on them wrong. You first have to attach them to a ring and then you have to shove a square peg into a round hole on the base. I am not kidding. I have never seen so many pieces that were square pegs that had to be put into round holes. Well, just expect to use a lot of super glue on Parts D10 and D11 and finally just saying, screw it...Im moving on. Then you move on to the next part of Step 2 where you have to place Parts D3 and D9 (which you build together) into a space they absolutely do not fit on Part A3. You just do your best and move on which comes back to haunt you later. Next comes Step 3, putting more tiny little very fragile pieces with square pegs Parts e1 into more round holes. These pieces are about the size of a pencil head and you have to shove that square end into a tiny little round hole and then attach something really fragile onto that. Needless to say, this does not go well but I digress and move on. You are almost done with the craziness of Step 3 but wait....there is one more step. You have to shove all of these fragile pieces into holes on the base under a big ring where you can't see what you are doing...just to make it really interesting. Keep trying and barely lifting up the ring...you will get there eventually. You probably need a break 2 steps ago by now. But, we move on to Step 4! Now you get to try to put these really really fragile posts onto the base! When I tell you good luck, I mean GOOD LUCK! Oh wait, I forgot a really important step in the beginning of Step 4! There is a ring (Part D5) that you must put on the center base. Throw that part away. I am serious. You do not want to even mess with that part. It will only cause you frustration later and it simply does not fit well enough to make future parts work. It will cause the top portion to not rotate later and will take you a long time to figure out why. Just throw it away, its useless anyway. Now things get really interesting because you are building horses! Ok, just accept right now that the parts do not fit right on the posts. They don't and they never will. Just shove them on there and hope for the best. Congratulations....you made it to Step 5 while most others have thrown it in the trash by now. Ok, Step 5. This step is truly only 1 step on 5 parts but there are a lot of pieces and its a really important step if you want your horses to move up and down. All I can say is look for videos on how this step works. I figured it out by sheer will but you might be able to save yourself some frustration by just finding the video. Be sure to thoroughly oil Part F6 exactly where it doesn't tell you to oil it. You need to oil it in the dip between the two posts. That is going to be rotating, making the horse go up and down on its post. Be sure to make sure the music box is working and everything is moving (it won't be but hey, you go girl) before moving on to Step 7? 10? Where the hell were we? Am I really still doing this project? Ahh Step 6, looks easy right? Nope! Nice try. Now you get to put about 40 teeny tiny square pegs into round holes with more fragile stuff. Have fun! Then to finalize the project, you get a taped crown to top it off. Do I sound sarcastic? Naahhh. Anyway, you are done. Keep it, throw it away, up to you but I would not advise taking it back apart to paint it. If you take on this crazy puzzle, one suggestion that I have is do not use wax. Use wood lubricant. Wax tends to act like glue when you get too much and this music box will never work. I will say that the music box is pretty and very detailed if you didn't break all of the fragile parts. For that, I gave it 3 stars. I don't think I can honestly recommend this puzzle though. ROKR has plenty of other puzzles that are a lot of fun and not so stressful. I am not sure what happened with this one....

FRAGILE!!
Instructions are vague, so be careful, and have some crazy glue ready. Very cute when finished, but too fragile for young kids. Just for looks not to play with. I have now put 10 of theses together for Christmas gifts this year. One of the reviews said her grand daughter put this together in 2 1/2 hours. She must me amazing!! It takes me about 8 hours to put one together, however, I learned from the first one that you need to be very careful and sand every part. Also to make it run smoothly you need to wax all the moving parts exceptionally well.

Very nice model , great animation. Take extra care installing the bell cranks for the horse that the bottom of the horse pole stays in place. Also very fragile, be patient
