how heavy are the balls? (16oz is the standard but some are much lighter)

The balls were a little lighter than what I'm used to. Also, they were not wood, some kind of plastic. But overall, I was impressed with the set.

yes I would give it the same rating today. the quality is good for what it is intended for. I have not tried to use the mallets for driving the stakes in the ground or splitting cord wood nor would I recommend it, but for fun in the back yard its great.

This set is manufactured in China. However, Baden Sports is a family owned and operated company based out of Renton Washington, about 15 miles South of Seattle.

I felt that everything about this croquet set was good quality and the balls didn't seem to be the perfect weight. I recently gave 2 sets as gifts and both families have used the sets many time each and had lots of fun.
