It is resistant to gasoline, oil and grease. I was using it way back when it was Mr. Gasket. I never do any tedious gasket scraping; that went out with Model T Fords. I pull the two parts apart and try my best to keep the gasket intact; but, I don't lose sleep over it if the gasket separates, tears, breaks, or leaves a lot of itself on both surfaces. I just slather on a generous coating of this stuff and put things back together with whatever old gasket was on there to begin with. I have never had a leak. My first choice for your application would be an RTV compound. Hope this helps. **Q: I have a leak and need to remove the oil pan. I only apply the seal to the oil pan and not on the oil pan frame on the car before the gasket install?** A: I have used Yamabond 4 to seal the two halves of the engine block without any other gasket. . I guess I would use it for this oil pan too. With a gasket I would also use this.
