Unless you are buying directly from Mattel there is no guarantee on the price. AA or dark skinned dolls are often made in less quantities and therefore considered more desirable and harder to get. Secondary market dealers use that fact to hike the price.

It’s because of the algorithm Amazon uses to to create discounts off of the retail price. This is driven primarily by the number of dolls sold. So while both dolls retail for the same price, the Caucasian doll must have sold more units for the algorithm to reduce it by an additional $3.
