Ty.** A: The volcano inside is only a little larger than one of the pods, 3-4 inches perhaps. Small kitchen tongs would probably work, or simply a spoon or my son often just uses his fingers. **Q: Experiment aside, would this plastic volcano be fun for my 3 y.o. grandson to use with his lego sets?** A: Great fun for a 3 year old.
