I do all the work by hand without the use of a log splitter. Splitting wedges, this sweet sledge, and my trusty splitting maul. I split about 20 cords of wood this year, which is quite a bit. Most all of the wood I split is 15-30" rounds, almost all of it needing to be split in half with a sledge & wedges. It's all hardwood (oak, etc) - so the BASH sledge gets a lot of very hard use. I've more than put this through its paces, and it's gonna last a lot more years. Handle is in great shape (there aren't many mis-strikes to speak of) - and the head is very firmly on like when it was unpacked new. So, all in all this is a great product and I'd recommend it. Kinda pricey, but I like to buy once cry once. As one last note - this is a 10LB head, but the handle does add some decent heft to it, since it has steel rods in it. So, it will probably weigh more than you think.
