I was looking for a thinner fork oil for my damper, since I'm a lighter weight rider. I saw a few articles online saying that 2.5wt is the same as 3wt. I figured I'd put this to the test. I had reverb oil laying around which is also 2.5wt oil. Right off the bat a sniff test revealed that the 2.5wt suspension oil is intact different and has more additives. The suspension oil smells more like marvels mystery oil and the reverb oil smells like used motor oil. This concludes that reverb oil is not a substitute for damper fluid. The viscosity test revealed that the the 2.5wt is definitely a bit thinner than 3wt. I should have taken photos, but the 2.5wt ran down much faster. The "2.5wt" reverb oil was much thinner than the 2.5wt suspension oil. Conclusions are that reverb oil is not the same as 2.5wt oil. I'm sure you could use this in your reverb dropper, but not vice versa. This 2.5wt suspension oil in theory, will help plushen up the damping characteristics. I have yet to try it but will update when I do.
