GIVER４部作、どれもおもしろいけど、 この本、動きがあって、少年少女冒険活劇な感じです。 少し、SF風味。 この本の主役の少年は、前作の『Gathering blue』に出てきた子です。 この少年が住んでいる町は、GIVERの町やGathering blueの町とも違って、 一番バランスが取れてていい感じの町。 そういういいところに悪い奴が入ってくるんですね。 なんで、人は不幸を呼び寄せるのでしょうか。 欲ですね。 マッティ！ あんたって、そんなすごい子だったのっ！ いやっ、死なないで！ 最後のほうで、つい叫んでしまいます。

Since the beginning I knew this book was a companion to "The Giver" and "Gathering Blue", but i was not expecting this. Since the first two books had little to do with eachother, mainly genre and message, when I started to read Messenger I thought it was "just" another great Lois Lowry book. How wrong i was! Little by little clues are given and I started linking it to the previous books and I was mind blown and very surprised. I finally had some answers...too bad many more questions arises, Lowry doesn't explain everything like usual, but here she leaves you wondering about how come things change. Even with the lack of explaination, I higly recommend this book and the previous ones. Now I cannot wait to read "Son"

Good character buildup and description. Story of a carefree boy who ends up becoming a hero and saving his village. Every book in the giver quartet has an ending that is intriguing and it all comes together in the last book 'Son'

A compelling story with meaningful themes that stay with you after finishing. Well written and engaging from start to finish—definitely worth reading.
