Hands Down the BEST Straw Cup - Easy for Baby to Use & Very Durable
This is my favorite sippy & straw cup! I have tried a lot of different cups for my daughter, and this one is miles better than any others we have. I waited to leave this review until I had used the product for awhile to be able to comment on it's durability - I purchased this cup almost a year ago and my daughter has been using it ever since. (I've since purchased 2 more of the same cup to have a backups when being washed, etc.). PROS: - The cup is extremely durable. In my house it is thrown/dropped onto the floor from my daughter's high chair often and we haven't had any issues with the glass breaking or any damage to the cup. The cup has also been dropped outside several times on concrete without any issues. - It comes apart easily for washing. I don't understand the reviews that complain this has "too many parts" for washing. It is dishwasher safe and takes all of 15 seconds to take apart and put in the dishwasher, and then maybe another 15 seconds to put back together once washed. 30 seconds is really not a lot of time. I prefer to handwash the cup personally, it doesn't take very long to handwash either. Not sure about the reviews complaining about mold growing in the straw.... I have only ever used water in my cups, so perhaps this was an issue with juice or milk? In my experience the only times I've seen mold grow anywhere is when something isn't washed (like that time I forgot about an insulated cup of OJ in my car for a week, it wasn't pretty). The straw and silicone straw & sippy are EASY to wash and can also be cleaned with a straw cleaning brush. - Water (or milk, juice, etc.) only touches glass and the silicone straw. No nasty leeching plastic coming into contact with your baby's liquids. - Easy for a baby to learn to use. My daughter refused all bottles as a newborn/young baby, I tried what seemed like everything. I was a little nervous at how she'd do with cups since she refused bottles. When she was around 6 months I gave her this cup with the straw attachment on as a 'toy' to play with. After a couple weeks I would fill it half full with water when I gave it to her, she'd still use it as a toy and liked to chew on the straw part, maybe it helped with cutting teeth. Within a month of when I first gave her the cup she had figured out how to drink out of it, and by 7 months she successfully drank water out of the straw sippy with every meal. Maybe she would have picked it up just as easy with a different cup/brand, but this sure was easy for us. I have to disagree with the reviews that complain "it's too hard to get liquid out of the straw" based off of seeing how easily my daughter picked it up. (Though I will say now that I've tried other cups after introducing this one to my daughter - if your baby is used to plastic sippy cups that are virtually weightless and water easily flows out of the top, I can see how this cup might be an adjustment for some babies depending on what they're used to. For us it was easy, but it was also our first cup.) - Green Sprouts customer support is awesome! The cup I purchased had a defect in the sippy silicone (it dripped water out when turned upside down). I emailed Green Sprouts and they had me send them some photos showing what was happening and ended up sending me a new replacement cup and a few extra goodies for the trouble. They also allowed me to keep the original cup (I just got rid of the sippy adapter and only use the straw adapter, which works perfectly.) I was incredibly impressed with their customer support. CON: - The lid doesn't seem to attach on strongly enough. If I try to put the lid on and then put it in the side compartment of my diaper bag (sized for cups & water bottles), the lid will inevitably pop off very quickly. All 3 cups I have do the same thing, so it seems to be a universal issue. This cup is wonderful, I've used it for almost a year now and see it lasting through future children also. Very happy with my purchase. I read the negative reviews before purchasing and was a little on the fence when I first received it, but have since found that I didn't have any issues with anything people are complaining about on here.

GREAT CUP
I have never written a product review, but I have decided to start in light of how much I depend on them when I am considering a purchase. Short Version: This cup is fantastic- don't hesitate to buy it. Long Version: I love this cup. I was looking for a glass and silicone option. This cup fits the bill and the cherry on top that it (1) has (removable) handles and (2) comes with both a sippy spout and straw option. I want to address a few of the complaints I have read about this cup: -"There are too many components to clean." I have never taken issue with this. Basically, there is a base, an inner glass which sits atop the base, an outer plastic cup which encases the glass and screws into the base, the handles, and the ring and spout/straw portion (the straw version does have an additional part the spout does not). Yeah, it might be more than a typical cup, but it is dishwasher safe (though I do always wash the silicone portions by hand) and even if you are handwashing, it really takes all of 30 seconds. Not an issue to me. To each their own. -"The glass breaks too easily." My child has dropped this from his highchair many times and tossed it across the floor whenever he was tired of drinking. We have no carpet in our home (tile and hardwood) and it has never broken or cracked. Earlier this week, I was holding him on my shoulders (I am 5'7") and he chucked it on the concrete slab we were standing on. I was sure it was done for, but NOPE, held up like a champ. 2+ months and going strong. -"Handles and spout don't align for proper drinking positioning." I had to laugh at this poor OCD soul. I TOTALLY know where they are coming from (a tad OCD myself- hollaaaaa!!!), but do NOT let this stop you from buying this cup. The handles twist and you are always EASILY able to position the spout and the handles appropriately for little one to drink easily. The trick sometimes is getting the little sprout fellow on the cup to line up perfectly within the center of the handles and directly below the spout. Choose your battles. -"It is hard to get liquid from the straw." Not sure what to say about this one. I can only speak for my own experience, but at 14 months (one year when I first purchased this cup), my son has never had any issue getting liquid through the straw and neither have I... I have been very pleased with this cup. I originally purchased two and am back to get a couple more. Highly recommend. UPDATE: Still loving the cup six months later and had the pleasure of dealing with their customer service (not due to an issue with the cup, but rather a component I misplaced). Great product and A+ customer service to boot. Very rare and very awesome.

Great cup
I am one of those moms who is paranoid about plastic. I have been searching for a cup that does not spill, does not break, and is either glass or stainless steel. I have tried the munchkin stainless steel 360, small glass water bottles, and this for everyday use. My toddler has milk in his cup, so it needs to be reasonably easy to clean. These cups fit the bill: they are not indestructible, but it’s worth the extra replacement cost to me because I can see if it’s clean and I’m not worried about the plastic. What has broken? My toddler has chewed the straws multiple times (I’m probably on straw #10). The glass insert has broken twice in 1 1/2 years. I’ve been considering the contigo stainless steel water bottles, but reviews indicate that the lids don’t stay clean. The stainless steel 360 does not leak and seems reasonably easy to clean, but we haven’t used it much because it doesn’t have a handle and my toddler prefers this cup. I expect the 360 will get more use in the future. I am aware of the lead scare. The lead paint was apparently on the outside of the glass insert as hash marks to indicate ounces. I replaced my inserts for free from the company, and I am troubled they were using lead paint (where did they even find paint with lead in it?!) but I do not think there was much risk of exposure to my toddler because the paint was on the outside of the insert, and the insert was inside the plastic cover. So troubling but this is still the best cup I’ve found.

and didn't contain any harmful chemicals like PVC, phthalates
I normally never write reviews because I purchase so many things on Amazon, but I had been very frustrated trying to find a zippy cup that didn't leak, was cute, and didn't contain any harmful chemicals like PVC, phthalates, or BPA. I tried the Zoli zippy cups first, ( bought 2) and I had really wanted to like them. They were cute, I liked the straw and the colors and the fact that it was a chemical free plastic with easy use, but it leaked EVERYWHERE. Finally, I had enough and did some research. It was between this cup, and one other one that seemed great but the other cup was double the price and you had to buy an extra sleeve to keep the cup from sweating condensation so I wasn't into purchasing a $30+ zippy cup. I had read a lot of reviews about how this one was a pain with all the parts to assemble, but I really didn't mind if it actually worked and didn't leak, as I already wash my baby's bottle and do so many dishes as it is, what's one more thing? Anyways, I am really pleased with this cup. If you assemble it right, it doesn't leak. It's very sturdy, I like that it's glass, has a straw, and that the glass is protected with the plastic cover. It's also a reasonable price, and was delivered promptly. I only gave it 4 stars and not 5 because: 1) there are quite a few parts that take an extra couple minutes to assemble and also wash, and while it doesn't bother me it is still not ideal, and 2.) the nipple doesn't line up in the middle of the design unless you purposely assemble it to line up, which can take an extra minute or two to figure out. I am a bit anal about things like this, so I like to make it line up in the middle. But if you don't care, it really is not a big deal when it comes to functionality. Anyways, I would consider this a pretty good investment if you are looking for a durable, chemical free, high quality sippy for your baby or toddler!

Great, safe cup for babies and kids
I have had two of these cups now and I love them. I bought my first one a few years ago, and I still use it for my second child. Despite being dropped from a high chair, it has never broken. It is easy for my baby to hold it, even though it is a little heavier with it being glass. I love that my children's drinks are only touching glass, and not plastic. I would send my daughter to bed with it, and it never leaked. On occasion, if I did not put the top on just right, it would leak a little, but all I needed to do was adjust it and it was fine. There are many pieces to this, but once you have put it together once or twice, you get the hang of it, and it is very easy. My only problem with it is that I cannot find a replacement top part. My daughter chewed the straw to the point that it needed to be replaced, and I cannot find a way to buy just that piece. This cup is durable and I think well worth the cost.

Broke on First Use
I wanted to love this cup. I received yesterday and it was so cute and looked well made. I washed it last night and got ready for use today. I sent to daycare with my daughter and picked her up and they said she broke today. I didn't ask for specifics, but she was 18 months old yesterday - typical toddler. She drops stuff, of course, and is a high energy child. But I wouldn't consider her overly hard on things or destructive. I will say I noticed a clear line in the glass near the bottom - a circular ring in the glass. It broke right on that "fault line" so perhaps I had a faultly one. Just very disappointed. I so wanted to love this and buy more... still on the search for non-plastic straw cups. I have the The Safe Sippy 2 2-in-1 Sippy to Straw Bottle (Purple) on the way... hasn't arrived yet. UPDATE: April 2, 2015 I love the Safe Sippy 2 2-in-1 Sippy to Straw Bottle (Purple) and highly recommend it. Stainless steel with silicone outer, doesn't break or ding or bend when dropped. A few parts you have to keep up with, but they sell replacement parts! Wonderful - no more tossing another usable item in the landfill. This alone makes me want to buy more from them. Like most sippy cups, has a straw ... and plastic parts. Need to hand wash. You'll need to buy a straw brush cleaner like this: http://www.amazon.com/Brushtech-Big-Straw-Cleaning-Brush/dp/B00QQYDJZ2/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427990389&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=straw+scru I got a brush cleaner when buying stainless steel straws (for adults) at www.lifewithoutplastic.com and like it. And the bottom won't pop out if dropped the way the Pura Stainless steel bottles do - if you buy these, and they are good water bottles for different purposes, make sure to buy the silicone sleeves (which are hard to get on... use instructions about using powder)! Otherwise when your toddler drops it, if done just the right angle/force, bottom will "pop" out and it will never sit flat on a surface again. They don't warn you of this, and I couldn't figure out how it happened, but my sister has them for her daughter too and she saw it happen... daughter slammed and poof, bottom poped out. A bit hard to explain, but typically the metal bottom comes with a concave bottom (curves inward) and if dropped it becomes convex (curves outward).

5 stars for Quality, 2 for Convenience
I loved the idea of a glass sippy cup with a soft silicone nipple. I hated the idea of using the standard plastic sippy cups, even the ones without BPA, and often their parts would get slimy and moldy. Using glass in real life was a lot more troublesome than I'd imagined. For a more lengthy version of the pros and cons, continue reading the paragraphs below but if you want a shorter version, here it is: it's a lot more worry than it's worth. Accidentally swallowing glass vs. drinking from plastic, it's that simple. Continue reading if you don't believe me. For starters, the great things about this cup are the silicone nipple and silicone straw features. I bought another "natural" stainless steel sippy cup with a removable straw feature but quickly came to dislike them for the hard plastic sippy part. I was constantly worried my children were going to fall on the hard plastic and break their teeth or split their lips. I loved starting my babies out on the soft nipple and moving them to the straw as they got older. The silicone is very strong and lasted through teething...pretty astounding! They were easy to clean and boil for sterilizing. I liked the remove-able handles for the same reason, using when small and taking them off when they got older. And last but not least, the glass never broke in both cups we bought. Which leads into the negatives...I never thought how freaked out I would be about having a glass insert. While it never broke, every time it was dropped I tried to inspect it as best as I could but there was no easy way to check. Once it's assembled and full of liquid, there is no convenient way to check for cracks without disassembling the whole unit. What a pain! And ridiculous full of liquid. And as many times as that happens with a baby (for which this is intended) it's just not possible. My stomach would be in knots worrying that I was a terrible mother for being too lazy to check it for the 5th time! Not worth it for me. All the parts make cleaning time consuming...but what sippy cup really is that convenient to clean? The softness of the silicone makes it easy to wash as opposed to hard plastic. Clean up is also made more difficult by the fact that, often, while pour milk or juice into the glass, I would wind up spilling it in between the glass and plastic sleeve and have a mess to clean up when it leaked out the bottom or spoiled in the base. Despite the worry of glass breaking, I continued to use these for my daughter but doubt I will use them again for the next baby. I will probably stick with a plastic sippy cup and just dump the contents out every time and refill with fresh liquid to make sure plastic hasn't had much time to leach into the drink. It's the best I can think of and I get tired of spending tons of money trying to find "safe" products for my children only to wind up having a worse headache in the long run. :(

Updated 2 years later**** Sturdy and my 7 month old loves it
I wish I could give this sippy more stars. Yes it's a bit pricey but well worth every cent, I will buy another as backup. It's very versatile - with or without handles, with sippy spout or with straw. It doesn't spill easily, My 7 month old has to work at getting the liquid out but he loves it. It's sturdy, held up to a few drops on the floor already, one even on the hard kitchen floor without the cover on, I was taking it apart to put in the dishwasher and the glass cup got away from me, I thought it would break for sure but not even a crack. II purchased a couple other bpa free glass and metal sippys to try out but this is my favorite. Sturdy, high quality. I'm a fan. *UPDATE* We have had this cup for two years, yes my son is 2 1/2 and he still loves it. He can use a regular cup but prefers, and drinks more with this sippy still. I am really amazed at how well it has held up, after many drops, bumps, washings etc. it is still almost new, no chips, or any deterioration of the plastic or silicone and still doesn't leak! I have another brand that we have tried to give a chance but after having to buy several replacement spouts because of deterioration and leaks, we decided just to get a couple more of these Green Sprouts cups. Still highly recommended after 2 years of daily use.
