Q: would this be useful for cutting wood? i'm looking to invest on either a stationary band saw or portable. i already have the dewalt 20v batteries

I just bought this saw and married it to a SWAG mounting kit and uses it as a wood working bandsaw. I put on a 10/14TPI blade. It works great. It also works just as well cutting metal. Good luck.

No it does not lock on. Just Off

Fantastic saw and correct blade info

This saw makes cutting metal pipe, brackets ect. so easy and fast to do, unlike torturous hack and reciprocating saws. I have nothing to complain about except Dewalt did not put the replacement blade model numbers in the manual and Amazon's "Frequently bought together" info with the following items listed are incorrect as of 10/23/2018:DEWALT DW3984C 24 TPI Portable Band Saw Blade, 3-Pack $14.99DEWALT DW3983C 18 TPI Portable Band Saw Blade, 3-Pack $14.99So after more than an hour of looking in the manual and Googling I decided to copy and past the info from an order I just placed on Amazon with the correct blade model numbers and the info from the manual.From the manual:BladesThis portable band saw is designed to use .020" (0.5 mm) thick, 1/2" (12.5 mm) wide and44-7/8" (1140 mm) long blades. It’s a beast

I’ve had this bandsaw for over 7 years now and it’s still running strong. It has been beaten up, cutting rod, angle iron, cast iron pipe, everything in between, 5 days a week for 7 years.I highly recommend it.The only Con of this beast is that my coworkers claim it’s heavy. I have no problem with it.

Handburger helper

It's OK. My biggest complaint is that the pulleys are unhoused and Dewalt doesn't sell a cover as they do with the smaller model. Even being aware of this, I almost turned my hand into hamburger when first turning this on.
