What is the seat height?

Says 18 but I am surprised at how high it is. I am 5'4" and my feet skim the floor. I need to use something to put my feet on.

Is there a bar at the front of the seat by the underside of your knees? Does it irritate?

If you are wider yes. It isn't behind your knees but the front arm support bars will push into your under thigh. I just measured and there are 19 1/2 inches between the inner side of the arm support bars. If your legs are wider than that sitting you the arm bars will push on you.

Is there head support, if you wanted to lay your head back for a nap?

Nope, no head support and not much back support either.

How is this chair in the sand?

The chair itself is really sturdy so it holds up well
