Sturdy and reliable for its purpose!

This item should be "standard issue" for caregivers, elderly or anyone who is unsteady on their feet. The use of a gate belt like this is like this is well worth the price. When a caregiver uses this gate belt it allows them to provide additional support early to prevent a fall and potential injury. If the patient has a hard fall it can minimize the impact and minimize injury. If someone falls and can not get up on their own, it is a valuable tool to assist them in getting up. Caution for caregivers - If you are there to assist someone getting up after falling, get additional help, don't risk throwing out your back or similar injury to yourself. While a gate belt always helps, the chances are you will need additional people to help to prevent injury to everyone. CLUE: When the caregiver uses the gate belt, insert your hand under the belt - grasping from the bottom - up. That way if the patient has a hard fall the gate belt will not get pulled out of your hand.

This belt makes me feel secure. I have a brain issue that has resulted in mobility problems on my left side (similar to the effects of a stroke). I have only been using this belt for two days but it has helped both my husband and I get me walking with comfort and confidence. I use a walker with my husband behind me holding the belt. This is much more comfortable than his having to hold me around the waist. The metal buckle is strong and reassuring. I am comfortable wearing the belt all day making it easy for quick use. I have a caregiver that comes twice a week. We'll see what she thinks of it. She is tiny and I have been worried that I might crush her if I were to fall on her. She is much stronger than she looks, though. I am very happy with the quality of the product. It would be nice if the instructions included specifics on how to thread the buckle properly. It is not necessarily intuitive as to which opening should be threaded first and in which direction.

Looks and feels good. Need to have illustration on how to use it rather than text in the manual. Also can include a video or picture on how to use in the product page in amazon. Tq
