You need these!
If you wear steel toe composite toe work boots you need something like this to protect the leather over the rigid cup in the toe. I've used these for years, and they work amazingly well. The material is incredibly tough, and the glue is perfect. I would recommend putting these on brand new boots for the optimum adhesion and protection, but you can use rough sandpaper to clean the area the toe guard will go over on used boots, and that works well too. And added benefit with these boots is that the toe guard gives you some traction for getting back up from a kneeling position. I can rise to my feet from the deck of a boat with an armload of tools, pretty impressive for a 65-year-old! The price on these has gone up over the past couple of years, but the value for price on them is still amazing. I have been out of work for 3 months with a shoulder replacement, and I will probably celebrate my return by buying a couple dozen sets of these and passing them out to my crew. Stellar product.

For best results follow this procedure
I have used these for several years now when I purchase new shoes. My trade is floor installation therefore the front of my shoes can get wore down very quickly. These guards minimize that wear and tear on the front part of the shoe. The key to putting the toe guard on properly is after you trace out where you want to place the toe guard is to put ample amount of the adhesive on both the toe guard and the shoe. The adhesive is a contact cement which requires two to three minutes of dry time after you have put it on both shoe and toe guard. Once you have done this, simply place the toe guard where you have put the adhesive and continue to press down for several minutes. I normally go around the edges of the toe guard to make sure they are properly contacting the shoe. For best results only do one shoe at a time. This procedure will ensure that the toe guard will stay in place. Some shoes are contoured in such a way that the edges may not fully contact the shoe. I simply use super glue around the edges. I've been doing this for years and the outcome is why I continue to purchase this product. That's all folks!

Excellent as advertised
I received the kit which contained two protectors, adhesive, alcohol wipe, a small application brush and a small piece of sandpaper. I followed the directions to the tee and made sure to clean and scuff the area to be applied. You have to apply some adhesive to both the surface of the boot and on the inside of the toe cap protector, let the adhesive become tacky in a minute or two before you put the protector onto the boot. I used just my fingers to apply pressure to the protector till it adhered. I also used a q-tip to apply some adhesive around the edges of the protector to create a seal. I let the boots cure for 48 hours before wearing. The adhesive is pretty fluid so use a little at a time when applying. So far it's been working well and doesn't seem to lose adhesion. If it becomes loose I will update this review. Update : 01/23/2023 The protectors are still firmly attached to the boots. They've been used in rain, dirt, mud and rugged terrain. They've protected the toe cap area on my boots and are still firmly attached to my boots. Performance has been excellent. My boots are made of smooth leather maybe they perform differently on suede or nubuck boots but they're great on mine.

Didn't stick for long.
I wish these worked better. I followed all the steps it said and it didn't hold for very long. I cleaned, sanded, and glued the crap out of them but one came off and the other is about to. They worked as long as I didn't use them too hard. But walking through grass would peel the sides and pulled one completely off.

My husband swears by these!!
My husband keeps these on hand. His work boots are over $200 and of course the first thing to go is the toes. These are one size fits all boots (our boys use these now too). It adds many more months of life to his boots. He is in construction so he hard on them. They work well and last a long time. We do often replace these as needed. Its so much cheaper than new boots. Easy to use. Yes, maybe not "sexy" but oh so practical and functional.

Really nice stuff, I was damaging my shoe tip all the time, I like working with DrMarten shoes, installation was easy and it is coming with everything needed to install them. No guessing. Professional result, seems to be installed by the shoemaker. Will buy again
