Tangle Art and Drawing Games for Kids: A Silly Book for Creative and Visual Thinking

I would compare the arrival of this book on our doorstep to that of Maria in The Sound of Music. Except instead of brightening our lives with music, Jeanette Nyberg has brought the art of drawing into our home. Our dining table is now covered with drawings by me and my 5-year-old daughter. I originally bought it to keep us occupied on a 7-hour car ride - and it worked beautifully for that. Now my daughter is a Tangle Art and Drawing Game addict. It's the first thing she asks for when she comes home from school and we've even made it part of our bedtime routine. This has added a whole new dimension to my relationship with her. We now spend hours drawing together, and making each other giggle with the brilliant array of games presented in this book. What I love is that these are simple prompts that even a young child can follow and get almost immediate delight from. For me personally, it has broken me out of my doodling rut. I have been doing the same doodles since the 8th grade! This has been and idea factory for me and my own creativity. So yeah, get this book!

Great ideas for a bit of fun during the school year!

I'm really happy with this product. It works as described and feels high quality. It seems durable. I would definitely recommend as a reliable option.

There were several fun ideas in this book that I would use in my elementary art classroom.

I purchased this book because I love Jeanette Nyberg and have been following her for years on pinterest, Facebook, etc. Her art projects and quips on life are always interesting. She brings all of her Internet cleverness to Tangle Art & Drawing Games for Kids. I am an assistant director at an afterschool program and brought the book to work with me. As soon as they saw the book, a group of six 3rd graders sat and did projects from it for a couple of hours. They still ask to use it months later...this is a big deal! The content is perfect for various developmentall levels, best suited for 2nd through 5th grade...but, older children and adults will enjoy as well.

I am so thrilled with how much this book is inspiring my seven-year-old son to draw! He enjoys the drawing games/prompts, and after he finishes working on them, he either asks to do another game or continues drawing on his own for long periods of time. In just a week and a half of doing an activity out of the book every day or so, I've already noticed an increased sense of confidence in the lines of his drawings. Plus, I'm enjoying playing the drawing games along with him, and we've ended up collaborating on a few of them, too, which is very fun. So pleased with this book!

This book has very creative ideas which are not too complicated for young children, but older children [or adults!] will also enjoy. These creative activities can be done simply or in great detailed depth, depending how far the 'artist' wants to take it. I teach Kindergarten and have used some of this book with my students, and I have also gotten ideas to use in my own journals and sketchbooks. With Jeanette Nyberg's style of writing, she makes everything fun and understandable, as well as entertaining!

This book is really useful for kids who are at a primary school level. However, until the end of this book, I would say there are lots of ideas which can be found or predicted from other sources.

Bought this to use at school with yr5 children. I’ve tried several so far and the children loved them. Even the most reluctant artists enjoyed the activities.

Das Buch ist genial. Ich bin zeichnerisch sehr unbegabt. Und ich meine wirklich VÖLLIG unbegabt. Jedes Kindergartenkind zeichnet besser als ich. Ich habe auch nie gern gezeichnet. Das Buch habe ich für die Mittags"ruhe" in unserem Urlaub bzw. zur Beschäftigung unserer fünfjährigen Tochter gekauft. DIe Vorschläge in dem Buch sind teilweise schon für dieses Alter geeignet, wenn ein Erwachsener ein wenig hilft. Das war meine Rolle. Und das Erstaunliche war, dass wir gemeinsam richtig hübsche Bilder zusammengebracht haben. Und dass es nicht nur meiner Tochter, sondern auch mir wirklich Spaß gemacht hat. Ist total entspannend, kleine Kästchen, Sternchen, Streifenmuster, Tiere usw. zu zeichnen und zu bemalen. Es hat fast etwas Meditatives.

Good I love this book

With, seemingly endless, creativity and games, this book is packed full of ideas to allow you add a little more creativity in your life. I brought this for my daughter, but I have to say that I have also enjoyed using it. Firstly, this is not a colouring book – or a traditional art book for children that they draw in. Rather, it is full of ideas, for which you will need materials such as paper, marker pens, watercolours and brushes, a ruler, black drawing pens, pencils, india ink, painter’s tape, ink pads, crayons and permanent markers (of course, you can substitute whatever you have available in most cases). The book is split into four different areas: simple drawing games, games with friends, mixed-media games and awesome tangle games. There are fun patterns, fingerprint self portraits, hand monsters, cube connections and much, much more. This will improve your creativity, your problem solving skills and, more importantly, it is a lot of fun. With some plain paper and drawing materials, you can design, print and colour. An excellent resource and great fun for children and adults alike.
