There are no rules! But it wasn't my favorite bottle for my baby. The nipple collapses. **Q: Is there a difference between newborn and stage 1?** A: Good morning. The LATCH Stage 1 Nipples are made for use for 0+ months and as such we do not have a different stage/nipple for newborn use. **Q: Do these bottles leak? we have the playtex ventair and they all leak from both top and bottom.** A: These leaked several times for me and i did not damage the valve, i actually replaced all the valves with new ones to try and solve the issue. I wouldnt buy these again or recommend them. There are probably better bottles out there that dont have a prime leak spot built into the design. **Q: What nipple size comes with the 4 oz?** A: I bought the 3 pak and it came with two size 1 nipple and one size 2 nipple.
