Good but try to make smaller version

The field of view is good, and the video quality is great. The latest firmware update gives it the ability to record in 3440x1440p, which helps to get a clearer picture of someone's plate number. I have HDR turned on at all times, it's important mostly at night. Without HDR, it gets harder to record a plate number because of the light reflections.

Basic dashcam with decent picture quality - make sure that you have the right memory card

Be aware: good as cards are not recommended for this product as they don’t work with the quality of the hardware. In short, you are required to use very specific SD cards. I used four 256GB Samsung Evo Plus cards, a really good sd card, and all four dashcams stopped working because of these sd cards (or so I was told). I contacted Viofo and they recommended a few sd cards that weren’t horrible, but definitely not as good as the ones I was using before. The ones they listed are also no where to be found on the product page. why... why was this not highlighted in pictures of the product or somewhere else obvious? So basically I have four 256GB SD cards that I can't return, so there goes $171.08 (including taxes) on those, and now I need to buy four more SD cards. Granted, the customer service rep for Viofo did offer me a discount on some of their SD cards, as well as a free card (first was 64gb then they offered me a 128gb), but that's still smaller size and more money in their pocket... because of the fact the didn't even try to make it clear and obvious what SD cards should be used, the last place I'd want to buy from is Viofo. Honestly frustrating that they left out a critical piece of information like this... thanks for making me waste my money on four sd cards... That being said, the GPS never works and causes an annoying loud beep every few seconds. However, the quality of the videos recorded when it works is great. The wire you get with this product is long so it makes it easy to hide the camera. All in all, I do like the camera and I am going to go buy some SD cards, just really pissed at why I have to waste more of my money because of a lack of description from this product. All in all: I do recommend this camera, as annoyed as I am, just don't use the GPS module and request a copy of their picture for what SD cards they recommend before you buy this. I'm not adding it because I don't want my review to be removed. Basically you have to buy VERY specific sd cards or it’ll stop recording and you can’t fix it. So you REALLY need to ask for the cards they recommend or this camera will become useless within a week if you get one of the MANY they don’t recommend (it’s like 12 they don’t recommend and 3 they do, 1 of which was their brand).

This is the best dashcam that I've owned so far, the ease of use, ability to position anywhere and especially the image quality is exceptional, even the audio is better than I could have expected. I was only planning to use this camera as a general purpose dashcam, but the image quality is so good that I can use it for additional footage for my bush trips as a car cam showing an external view without having to place my action cam outside the vehicle. Had I know that it was this good, I may even have bought the 4K version in lieu.
