It doesn’t move at all. It definitely remains in place because they are so sturdy.

Is this bag machine washable if I remove the dividers and framing?

I wouldn't machine wash these make-up cases - you can probably get away with removing the dividers and washing it in a sink like delicate porcelain that can't soaked and then air-drying but.. do be careful - I have no idea what the interior structure is made of..
