What is a jack type? 3.5 mm?

The jack comes with a 1/4" connector attached, but it can be screwed off for the more mobile-device-friendly 3.5mm connector.

How's the bass like? Is it deep or soft

The basic state of the headphones is flat frequency response which is as it should be. Because of this they respond very favorably to how you set the EQ on your playback device. If you want bass, EQ for bass. What they do not do is color the playback like the overwhelming low mid stuff you get out of something like a set of beats. These reproduce what is sent to them very accurately making them great as a studio monitor and even better for home listening. Very impressive headphones for the price point.

Would these be good to use in the office to block noise from neighboring cubicles? And, I don't want my ears to hurt from wearing them.

These are very comfortable headphones compared to other closed-back headphones and can't beat the price. Not sure if there would be enough insulation from outside noise, but i you are in an office environment, I would think so.

Is the cord removable?

No, the cord is not removable/replaceable on this model. However, it is removable/replaceable on almost any other higher series akg headphone. I might recommend the k200 series if you want that feature.
