Leather Conditioner by Lexol, Use on Furniture, Car Interiors, Shoes, Handbags, Accessories, 33.8 Fl Oz Each

Foreword: Used on a black leather cowhide H-D jacket in 90% condition from new. No one needs another glowing review on this product, but it does work really well. On previous jackets, I used mink oil paste and it works well, but is harder to work into seams and tight areas. Lexol quickly works into seams and tight areas and absorbs fairly fast. Leather was still supple the day after. Paste has a tendency to become a little stiff in comparison. Drying takes longer than paste and Lexol does leave more of sheen, but that also means it will likely repel water even better. I didn’t buff afterwards and don’t know if that would increase or decrease the sheen. Odor is low in my opinion and it never bothered me when conditioning the jacket in one setting. I did use disposable gloves to keep the process under control. Leather gear is expensive and can last a long time if you maintain it. Sun, wind and rain is hard on leather jackets and Lexol has now replaced paste as my preference for leather conditioning. Rubbing down a biker jacket takes elbow grease and once you commit to the project, it’s best just to finish it and let it naturally dry for a few days. If you prefer your leather to look like it was rode hard and put away wet, don’t use anything. EDIT: If you’re willing to allow this product to naturally dry on black leather, it’s definitely worth it. The sheen dulls down after it completely dries, but the water repellent properties remains and the softness of the leather is noticeable. If you apply it liberally, it could take several weeks to completely dry and return to a normal appearance. Warm temps or sun will speed up the process. This has become my go to leather conditioner for motorcycle leather gear.

We recently purchased a Natuzzi couch and love seat set that were in need of a deep conditioning. I was going to go with Leather Honey, but when I realized it would cost atleast $50 for the couch alone, I decided I'd go with something else. I found the reviews of Lexol and all the people raving about it, so I gave it a try. I also have Bick 4 and a Meguiars 3-in-1 to compare it to. It's no comparison to Meguiars, which I found leaves the leather dull (as to be expected with a 3-in-1). But the Bick 4 is a huge contender. It's never left any white residue on my purses or shoes I've used it on, while the Lexol will leave a white residue IF you use too much and don't wipe it off (it's easily fixable by applying more Lexol to a cloth and wiping anywhere there is white). It leaves the leather with a slight shine which is nice, and creates an instant, dramatic change when applied with a brush. The photos I've included are while the conditioner is still wet, which shows it as more dramatic than when it is dry, but it isn't that far off. I don't notice any leather darkening compared the the back of the couch, which I haven't conditioned. You have to use very little compared to what I expected. I probably used 3oz on the entire couch (which is oversized and very large, and also a generous application). I conditioned the love seat as well and I'm not even 1/3 through the bottle. This stuff goes far. I also wanted to add in that you need to be sure your couch is genuine leather AND not treated with something to make it unable to accept leather conditioner. Also, if you wipe this on with a cloth and see barely any change in your deep scratches, try a brush specifically for conditioning leather. I have a very small horsehair brush that I use on my purses that I decided to try on the couch. With just wiping this stuff on, I only saw a slight difference. But with the brush, it looked like a new couch. Deep wear is going to require a little elbow grease. I took probably an hour or so on my couch to get it back to looking new, and I'm still conditioning it regularly to keep it at that point. Sadly, this does not prevent scratches from dogs (haha!). Overall, I'll buy this again, and I'll invest in the cleaner from this brand. Bick 4 is another great option, but at this price point, this cannot be beat. I feel it delivers a deeper conditioning with fewer applications. Don't expect a miracle the first application if you've had your couches 20 years and never treated them, give it a few goes.

Updated January 20, 2013 I use this product on my Flexsteel leather couch, a high-quality couch. It's a super long couch because it is actually two loveseats assembled together. Each loveseat has an arm, one left and the other right. Putting them together makes it one giant piece. It's a lot of leather and that's why I bought this large container. I found that I had to buff a LOT more than I expected. It took days for the conditioner to completely sink in after application, but I applied a heck of a lot thinking I was saving time. You should be aware that buffing will probably be required and it will take some time for the leather to absorb the conditioner. The result is remarkable. The color of the leather seems more vibrant and it has a shine actually. Ultimately, this is protective of the leather and will make it last a lot longer. In the meantime, it makes the leather look richer. One thing you will have a lot of trouble figuring out based on looking at product information for a large piece of leather furniture is what type of product should be used on it. If you have an expensive piece, most likely there won't be instructions for this. That's because the manufacturer doesn't want to take chances by informing you which conditioner you may use. The retail representatives that I questioned didn't know anything about treating leather. Lexol works just fine on an expensive leather couch as my experience continues to show. This large container goes far. I would not waste money on small highly-branded boutique products when in my experience this product has worked perfectly on very good leather.

I use Lexol 1013 Leather Conditioner on the leather seats of all of my automobiles. Some professional detailers will tell you that you don't need a conditioner as long as you do a thorough and effective cleaning of the leather on a regular basis, which I believe, but I like the effect that the conditioner has on the freshly cleaned leather. It is also a good product as it is easy to remove when cleaning the seats the next time. It does a great job and doesn't form a layer that makes it hard for the cleaner that I use to penetrate the leather the next time I clean the seats. It doesn't leave a harsh smell and I am confident using the product long term based on Lexol's fine reputation and long history in the industry.

I bought a used sofa and chair that at a beautiful calf leather dark honey color. I love it but the leather looked as if it was never conditioned. Someone told me to use a product called Leather Honey so I spent way too much buying a 16 oz. Bottle of that. It was so messy and sticky, hard to apply. It did improve the condition visually but after about 3 days it the improvements faded away and it still looked dry. I read reviews and forums where people were talking about leather conditioner and that's where I read about Lexol and the incredible difference it made to leather. I learned it contained some of the same ingredients used by leather tanners. I looked in Amazon and was very happy to see I could get this large container for just $15! It came the next day. It was so very easy to apply with a round buffing sponge and the difference it made blew me away. One application renewed the leather to its original rich color and left it soft. I was blown away and so happy that this lovely sofa looked so much better than when I bought it. Scratches and slight age wear disappeared. I received this product in just a few days after ordering from Amazon Prime. I have used this product for years on all my leather goods. It is my go to product for all my high end designer handbags. I have used it on handbags that were dull & lifeless that hadn't been treated in over 10 years and looked like they needed to be thrown away. After a quick cleaning, just use a soft cloth and apply liberally, it soaks in without darkening the color of the leather, acting as a barrier from water, ink and other things that can leave marks/stains on leather. It's great for protecting against water marks on leather as well as helping to protect against the common corner wear that handbags get from being laid down near the four corners near the bottom. Of course, this product is great for belts, shoes (especially the toe & heel area where shoes get the most wear), belts and so much more which is why I bought the 33.8 oz size. The price couldn't be beat, not to mention the free shipping! Just can't say enough about this product and after years of using mink oil (which has a terrible smell) this product does not, I will never go back. Lexol is the bomb.com!

This is the stuff you want. Over many years of owning leather (it's one of my favorite stuffs—in clothes, in the car, in household goods), I've tried the rest, from the waxy to the watery and from the cheap to the very expensive. If they ever take this product off the market, leather items everywhere will cry out in terror and then soon after will be silenced forever due to lack of proper care. Use for any non-white unsealed leather (i.e. its surface is soft to the gentle touch, rather than hard to the general touch, and a drop of water soaks in rather than sitting on top in a drop indefinitely until you wipe it away). Restores, cleans, hides cracks, ensures suppleness and flexibility without damage. Smells reasonably good rather than bad. Goes on easy and within an hour or so absorbs without residue leaving leather aided and protected for another several months. I've used it on: - Sofas, couches, and chairs - Car seats and door panels - Jackets, hats, and other clothing items - Shoes and boots - Leather-handled tools - Leather-surfaced boxes and containers - Leather-bound books (be careful not to get it on the paper pages) For leather, Lexol is the nectar of the goods. Do not be without it if you want your leather to last and glow and also remain nice (not greasy, not dry, not hard, etc.) to the touch and in appearance for the long haul.

As usual after reading all the negative responses about this product, I was a little skeptical about the opinions shared. I had the sneaky suspicion that perhaps some people didn't know how to properly maintain their leather. First note....if you leather isn't in need of conditioning, it won't soak in. Secondly......if it is in need of conditioning, it will soak up the conditioner like a sponge. Third.........many automotive and home leathers are processed with products that seal the leather to give it the longest lasting condition possible. Some of the newer leather jackets, that are treated to resist water and stains, will be the hardest to recondition too....at least until they are well broken in. My old deer skin jacket soaked the conditioner up completely after 2 sprayed on applications and is now as supple as a baby's behind. In other words, a well broken in leather will accept the conditioner very well! My newer riding jackets were not in need of a treatment. But I gave it a try on the newest for the fun of it.....and wouldn't you know it, the conditioner wouldn't soak in. It did however give the jacket a fresh look after I wiped off the residue. This stuff is great, does the job well and lasts quit a long time. Been using it over the last 10 years with great results. I've found that applying to the leather with a spray bottle works best for well broken in leather. Newer leather, just a rag to wipe down the leather.
