Scholastic Pocket Dictionary of Synonyms, Antonyms, Homonyms

My 9 year old grandson and I love this little book. It's good for all ages and is really a learning tool. For example, he knows the word for something but has learned that there are other words that mean the same and it's fun to use that different word. That's just one section of the book.

It's not a, standard, dictionary; it's for people that don't know the difference between a Beatle and a beetle. With more than 12,000 synonyms and 10,000 antonyms, this is great reference for young writers. For kids who don't know whether to use "principle" or "principal"; "Stationary" or "Stationery"; Effect/Affect, etcetera. This handy guide also contains 2,000 homonyms. I'm grateful that this great book relieves me of words that grated MY mind.

Very nicely organized as the antonyms are on the same page as the synonyms. And the homonyms (not to confuse ESL students) are in the back. Gave a copy to both of my students so we can refer to it as needed. It is also solidly bound and reasonably priced.👍

This is a great book for kids 8 and up to use when really starting to build on there writing skills and learning how to write paragraphs and which is the correct to use in the right sentence etc...I purchased this before for my daughter who is now 19 and now for my son who is 9 and the 19 year old was like I want this book lol it was a great tool too use and I can use it in college....overall it's great book

Note: the item description clearly said that is a POCKET dictionary, with 12,000 synonyms, 10,000 antonyms, and 2,000 homonyms. So that being said... this book is a helpful tool for kids at school. The 1st part of the book is synonyms and antonyms. The antonyms are in italic font after the list of synonyms. The 2nd part is the homonyms from page 208 -237. From pages 238-240 include helpful information about the parts of speech.

Amazing book for the children. It helps them to expand their vocabulary and their knowledge.

This book is easy and very useful if you suddenly are stuck with writing. If you are repeating the same word all over your text and your brain cant summon any other words, this book is just what you need. I recommend it to everyone who wants to expand their vocabulary in an easy way.

Simple et efficace présentation claire et très facile à comprendre pour mon fils de 9 ans. Permet vraiment d’améliorer ses capacités de rédaction. Et je dois l’avouer je m’ensert aussi.
