It's a great start to checking your child's understanding of basic GCSE concepts - bought for a year 9. The tests on the whole are only 10 mins or less. It's also a nice large size so workings out can be done next to the questions. We've used it for end of year exams (Year 9) when basic GCSE work has been done this year. It is important they understand these concepts before moving onto more complex work next year. I also like that each page has easy medium and harder questions on so even if you aren't sure about a topic you can at least get the first one or two right and build from there. I've bought lots of these types of books over the years and this one seems to hit the right note between quick, clear practice and enough detail without being too long winded and off putting. Bought on Monday completed 15 tests by Friday fitting in around other work. I highly recommend for beginners to GCSE maths work but definitely not complex enough for final GCSE's however the book is not intended for this and quite clearly states that it is not an exam style question book. I also like that it is simply black and white questions. So many books look lovely, fun and colorful but often the busy pages of bright colour and picture that seem would appeal to kids just cause confusion and lack of concentration - It's kept simple and straightforward. One final point the answers in the back all come with explanations so if they've got an answer wrong they can see instantly why and how to do it right. (helps me too as my maths is a bit rusty).
