It is somewhat like a pea green in color powder. When mixed, it turns a very dark muddy spinach color. The results on your hair I hear varies with your hair type, color, and how long you let it sit, but it is definitely a red/orange color. My first try turned out really a scary orange. Since I have porous hair, I had left it in for four hours. Second try, setting the mix and keeping it on for a lot longer, resulted in a more normal reddish, coppery color. After awhile, I started mixing and setting using an iron pot, as requested in the instructions, and the color results were a much nicer auburn color. Guess it pays to follow instructions completely! It was really great for my hair, leaving it shiny and thickened with less fallout, but to be honest I do not use it any longer. It is rather grueling to keep up for me since I had to do it once a week. Be warned, once you use henna and stop, you just have to let it grow out. You will not be able to bleach or dye.
