Simple and effective egg poacher
This is a simple but very effective egg poacher. I use a little olive oil to coat the inside of each cup to prevent sticking and the eggs slide right out. Each cup fits a 'large' egg the best. Any bigger and it may spill over the sides. I've used one exactly like this for many years until the non-stick coating began to wear away in a couple of spots. I liked it so much that I re-ordered the same one. I am very happy with this purchase. Update: It's now 4/19/20 and I'm updating my review. As I wrote, after many uses and cycles in the dishwasher, we noticed a little rust on some of the egg cups, so it was time to discard the poacher and move on to a replacement. For the relatively inexpensive price this particular poacher costs, and for the perfect poached eggs it makes, my husband wanted me to buy the same one again. My one issue with the poacher is that it only makes 3 eggs at a time. My husband and daughter are the poached egg lovers in the house and they each like 2 eggs, so the math doesn't work for the same breakfast unless I use 2 poachers. For that reason, I decided to check out other options on Amazon. However, after reading reviews for other poachers, I've concluded that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". I'm going with my husbands suggestion to re-order and will buy 2 of them if I need to make more than three eggs at a time. Several suggestions I didn't mention in my original review that might be helpful.......... 1. Just a reminder..........that I did mention.........use some kind of fat (oil or butter) to coat the cups. That seems to be important for most egg poachers. You don't have to use a lot. 2. Placed the poacher, without the eggs, into a pan with about 1/2 - 3/4 in. of water. 3. 'Carefully' crack the eggs into each cup. If any of the eggs leaks into the water, once the cover is on, the water will boil up over the eggs. Still good, but not my favorite outcome. That is the reason I suggested NOT to use any eggs bigger than 'LARGE'. 4. I use a pan with a glass lid so I can watch the process. With the cover OFF, bring the water to a boil and then put the cover on. 5. Using a timer: From my experience, cooking time varies between 3 minutes - 3 minutes 20 seconds. My husband and daughter prefer runnier eggs, so I usually go with about 3 min. + 5 or 10 sec.s at most. 6. Remove the cover, put a fork in one of the oval holes to lift up the poacher with the eggs still inside. I hold the poacher with a paper towel and use a non-abrasive spatula to nudge the eggs right onto the toast. The best thing about this poacher is how consistent the eggs turn out!

Very happy
I've had this thing about a year and a half now. I think it's the greatest cooing tool I've seen for poached eggs. Does a great job cooking the eggs, easy to to clean and small enough to fit in my smallest pan.

It works for me
My previous poacher worked great (it came with it's own pan), but the non-stick stuff had become nonexistent (it was very old). I couldn't find the exact thing I wanted (pan-poacher unit, non-stick, NOT individual cups, reasonable price), so I tried this. I was not immediately impressed. While it sat down in the old pan nicely and has the little feet so that the cups aren't touching the pan, I oiled it per the instructions, but the sticking was dreadful! There was nothing non-stick about it! But wait - the next time I used cooking spray and it worked great! The next week the handle broke off my old pan! Weird, huh? So, I really committed to trying this gadget in a different pan, and I'm glad I did! I've used it several times with great results. Be aware - I would NOT use this in a non-stick pan. I'm thinking the little metal feet would damage the pan. Anyway, it works well and because I have a pan that works with it, it's a great price. UPDATE: The cups are small. We buy large size eggs, and they are really too big for the cups. It is nearly impossible to get this device in the pan without spilling some of the egg. If you buy medium eggs, it would be fine. If you buy extra large, forget about it.

Do not purchase this product
In my opinion, this product is a disappointment. I used it several times and the eggs never came out intact. I used avocado oil as well as butter in the cups to prevent sticking. The cooker is not good for heating the eggs over water in a skillet. The dimensions are just not right. Also, I believe that the metal used is inferior and not conducive to successful poached eggs.

Easy and effective!
Works exactly as advertised. Recommend a dab of butter and lift with the tip of a butter knife. Fits virtually any size pan or pot.

Not the simplest to remove from a boiling pan of water
It was all going fine until I had to get it out of the pot of boiling water to stop the cooking. Just not an easy pick-up-and-remove design. If I can figure that out, then great!

Egg Poacher is the Best
Healthier way to fix eggs and easier too. Great sturdy product. Just make sure you use non-stick utensils to remove the eggs.

Los huevos de tamaño normal en Mëxico no caben y se derraman. Además se pegan aunque se les ponga aceite, o mantequilla.

Great little gadget
I don’t have storage space for full size egg poacher so this little gadget was perfect. I’ve only used it four times so I can’t speak to its durability. It makes a great poached egg though. Crack an egg into one of the greased cups, use a fork in one of the holes to lift it into a frying pan with about 1/2” of boiling water. Cover with a lid. I found 3minutes and 20 seconds is perfect. Remove with a plastic spatula that won’t scratch the surface. It’s so easy and fast and cleanup was easy too. I didn’t have a problem with the egg sticking to the surface. I would definitely recommend this!

Works great
I was a little concerned by some of the comments about cleaning and needing oil but that isn't correct. Using oil leaves a nasty (in my opinion) taste on the eggs not to mention degrading the nutritional value. As another reviewer noted the trick is NOT to try and clean it right away. Wait about 15 minutes and the residue will dry and form a flakey skin that you can easily peel off leaving the pan almost perfectly clean and needing only a quick wipe. I love poached eggs and this little pan makes them so easy to cook perfectly every time. I put a little bit of water (1") in a small frying pan, put in this insert, crack my eggs into the holes and then cover on low heat for 5 minutes. Perfect eggs every time. Recommend.
