Ace Martial Arts Supply Japanese Samurai Katana Sword Maintenance Cleaning Kit

I bought a katana as a Christmas present for a family member. On researching the care of swords I then discovered (much to my horror) that it has to be cleaned on a regular basis, especially when it first arrives as the blade will be covered in thick oil for transportation. This oil needs to be removed before it starts drying out and tarnishing the blade - I'd already had it for 3 weeks! But not to worry - the kit did a fantastic job of cleaning it up and the sword now looks amazing, as it should do. A functional and necessary purchase - recommended.

Oil leaked into box. Not much powder coming out of talc ball, had to tap quiet firmly possibly oil has leaked onto this

This has done a wondrful job of cleaning and polishing my blades. The talc ball delivers a good amount of powder, unlike a previous one I had (bought in Japan). I would have liked more of the oil.

So the reason for only 2 stars the Uchiko powder ball is not powder, no matter how much you tap the ball on the blade nothing would come out so I took the ball apart and checked out the powder, the powder is oily so it was clumped into a solid oily clump, totally un usable. The oil came in a separate bottle to transfer into the enclosed bottle but the bottle does not seal tight so it will leak out. All in all not worth the money but I kept it because I coudnt be bothered to return it.

First time using a kit like this. A pity the bottle top was loose, leaking oil inside the box, very messy and not much left to use. Otherwise the kit seems to work. On this occasion I feel it wasn’t value for money because of the leak.

I was disappointed with this buy. There was no oil in the bottle and it was not sealed as shown in the picture which meant that it had all leaked out onto the other items. Very messy.
