do u have to use oil or water?

This stone requires water. I suggest that you soak it submerged for 24 hours before the first use. Turn it over several times during the 24 hour period. Each time you turn it over you will see new bubbbles of air escaping from the stone. Use the stone while WET! In subsequent uses, soak for between 20 minutes to 2 hours depending on how much 'new' air is escaping from the stone. I understand oil can be used in addition to water but I am told and have demonstrated that it is unneccessary. Good Luck!

What size is the stone?

The stone is 7 inches long, 1 inch high and 1 and 1/4 inch wide. Works very well. Just need to let it dry out if you store it away so you don't get mildew being in a closed container.

what micron does the grit uses?

The grit is measured in CAMI (Coated Abrasive Manufacturers Institute) nomenclature as 1,000 grit (1000 particles per inch) or about 10.3 microns.

Is the stone supposed to dissolve? Just started using it and it seems to be dissolving as I use it.

Technically no. All stones will wear but this one is super soft. I won't be buying again. I've already had to flatten mine after only having used it a few dozen times.
