Simple setup with Netgear app/Strong coverage
Bought this NETGEAR Nighthawk to avoid paying Spectrum for a router. If you're a Spectrum customer, this router works with the Spectrum modem. It arrived this morning and after 20 minutes it's up and running. We live in a one floor, 1500 square foot condo. Coverage is excellent throughout on 10 devices. The router is also small and fits nicely on our bedroom dresser. What I'm most impressed with is the setup and NETGEAR app. Download the NETGEAR app to your phone using a QR code provided on the instruction sheet. After establishing a NETGEAR account follow the prompts. This initial setup tutorial is fairly boiler plate, what sets this app apart is how it responds to issues. For example, if your router fails to connect on the first attempt, as mine did, it tells you precisely which settings to change on your phone to correct the issue. And these settings changes solved the problem in all three cases that occurred during my set up. I've never experienced this level of intuitive app support. I won't pretend to offer any review of the technical capabilities of the router, definitely outside my bandwidth, but if you're like me, comfortable with using technology, but needing guidance to navigate setups, this is a great product. The phone app is also easy to navigate and relatively self explanatory. To demonstrate, I ran a speed test from the phone app. It's way easier than using the settings function on your device. Download speed is 113.72 Mbps, Upload is 12.07 Mbps and Ping is 15.0 Ms. Do I fully understand what these mean, no, but with a small amount of research I could if issues arise. Bottom line, I'm so happy this product was easy to setup and am very pleased with the value. For a few months rental cost on my Spectrum Router, I avoid paying a lifetime monthly fee. I will leave it to others to debate the merits of the technical functions of this router. There is no debate in my opinion on the simplicity of setup and functionality.

Good Router, Very small, Nice Simple Design, Easy Setup, Good Customer Svc
Very nice Router. I appreciate that customer support was available to help me with set-up, which ended up being quite easy; but support was needed as it didnt come with specific instructions to set it up properly. I love that it is very small and has a nice, simple design. Only wish they offered it in white, as i dont like black, but thats just an extra. Ive had it a few months already and it works nicely.

Works well, good value
Trying to reduce household expenses. Replacement for the cable company router that I paid for monthly for 6 years. That is essentially buying this router a dozen times. It has a small footprint, was easy to install and works reliably. It is one of the devices approved by the cable company.

Quality Netgear product, easy set up
I just switched phone and Internet provider. When I signed up, they didn’t tell me I needed a router and when they told me they were going to charge me 10 extra dollars a month for one I decided to purchase a router. I was extremely pleased that they had this one on sale and when I put it in my cart, I got an additional $10 off so by buying this I saved $80 over the next year. I was extremely pleased at how easy it was to set up how compact it is as compared to the providers router. I have a difficult time with electronics because I am 72 and did not grow up with electronics and have not had a lot of experience with them, but this was so easy to do with the instructions that they give you on your phone app to coordinate the set up. I had it done within 10 minutes. I am giving this five stars ahead of time because I know Netgear is a very good brand and because of the quality of the equipment and speed of installation. It has a much stronger signal than the one the Internet provider wanted me to rent from them. It comes with all the necessary cables and instructions where to hook up each one. I just tested my Internet and it works perfect. I would definitely recommend this Netgear router.

A good, very basic router
I ordered this router to replace the Spectrum router I was paying $5 a month for, now having gone to $7 a month. It’s the router that looks like a charred meatloaf, standing on its’ head. It’s nothing special, so finding a substitute was like hurdling a very low bar. This R6700AX is an exact clone of the NETGEAR RAX10. The specs are identical, but not the price. Why, I don’t know. Of note is that this router omits the “NIGHTHAWK” designation, which, aside from generally lower speeds and area coverage, also lacks a USB port and an on/off switch on the back. These are not deal breakers though. My networking demands are quite modest, so I didn’t need a gaming level router. One Dell workstation, two tablets, and a 2000 square foot house, where all the activity is confined to a single quadrant. After reading the user manual, downloaded from the NETGEAR website (146 pages, does not cover NIGHTHAWK app), I opted to do a website interface, desktop installation, rather than using the highly touted NIGHTHAWK app. Though the NIGHTHAWK app has a lot of appeal for its’ simplicity and features, I wanted more in-depth control of the routers options than the app provided. For example, by electing to choose the “Smart Connect” feature, the router automatically chooses which band, the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz, that gives the best performance for each particular device that’s connected. You can still choose to configure each band separately by assigning a different network name (SSID) to each band (and that configuration is generated, by default, in your setup procedure). But with only two devices connected at a time, the “Smart Connect” option did not offer any benefit to me. I actually went several steps further and disabled the 2.4 GHz band and both Guest Network bands leaving only the 5 GHz band active for my two tablets. A word of caution for either of these connection preferences. Unlike some other NETGEAR routers, neither option will disable the WPS feature. That’s a potential security threat lurking under the radar. The installation process was simple and straight forward. Just sit back and answer the questions, click next, page by page, and you’re done. I chose the automatic set up option, the Setup Wizard, with the ability to go back through and tune the features important to me. This is done using the routers web interface, for which you must sign back into with your newly created password. There are a couple of You Tube videos, search: TONOR NETGEAR R6700AX SETUP, and search: BROK3N1MAGE NETGEAR NIGHTHAWK, that can give you a visual “heads up” as to how the router interface is laid out beforehand. I found them helpful. And the results were, well, underwhelming. LAN speeds to my workstation were almost identical to the Spectrum router at 366 Mbps download and 12 Mbps upload, with an assigned 300 Mbps service from Spectrum. Wi Fi speeds for the tablets were about 10% faster with the R6700AX, but if not for doing a speed test, I would not have detected any difference. Overall, I am satisfied with this router. Price, features, speed and coverage are all adequate for my minimalist inclinations. I also opted for the 4-year Asurion protection coverage. If the thing blows up before its’ time, it’s replaced. If I get past 11 months, it will pay for itself in monthly rental fees.

Not working - factory reset made it worse
I bought this router as a recommendation of my ISP for our city's new Fiber. It is rated over 1 GB, which is what I'm getting from the city's link. I have an ISP who I highly recommend, and they helped me troubleshoot it as far as they could, and the result is, the fiber is up (I tested it by removing the router from the network and plugging my laptop directly into the city/ISP's device, and everything popped back to life.) The jury is not still out on this one. I can't recommend it to anyone. I go back to work tomorrow, and don't have internet in my home office. Neither does my wife. I'll have to run to Best Buy (Worst Experience Ever), or Walmart (they know nothing about anything), and pick something up that WILL work. I don't trust the things Amazon has been doing, so am not sure that I'll get anything back on this purchase. That's just under $100.oo wasted for a product that lasted almost exactly 6 weeks. I used to trust Netgear. It's been a while since I bought anything of theirs. Not since I stopped being an I.T. Director and don't need to purchase equipment for a company. But, my customers now are places everyone's heard of, like Vanderbilt U., the U.S. Senate, the House or Reps; Apple, Oracle, Facebook. You know, tiny companies... I'm not a happy camper. It's Sunday late, and nothing's open, and it sucks to be me. Oh wait, Walmart is open, and I got a TP Link Wi-Fi 6 router. It works fine, as long as I have Smart Connect turned on. With that off, the link is flaky. I tried that with the Netgear router, but it made very little difference. So, to date (it's been several days since writing the above), I was told by Amazon that I had to go to Netgear for help. They will require going through the standard troubleshooting steps, so I'll have to take my internet down and plug this thing back in, then a Netgear engineer will access the router and check stuff out... I may get a new one out of this, and I'll be okay with that. No such luck. I reset it and it stayed up a couple of weeks, but now is completely dead. I'm never buying Netgear again. They charge monthly fees for basic services on the thing. I'll never pay monthly for services like this. QoS, parental controls, etc SHOULD NOT BE SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES!

Great product! Better than I even expected! Would recommend this to everyone!
I needed an access point added to my network. I purchased this item because 1) It would handle the high speed of my internet provider 2) It would broadcast a good signal for coverage that I was trying to cover 3) low cost. I am not a network/tech guy at all. I was able to connect the router to my internet and used the app to update and install it as a modem. Great now I have a 2nd router but I wanted to use it as an access point not as a router. After it was installed as a router easily able to change the settings on my laptop to make it an access point. It was literally a click of one button and the router made all changes needed to make it an access point. The access point (router) was placed in my garage. It has such good coverage that the TV's in my house now connect to the new access point rather than the original router, even though the TV's are much closer to the original router. Overall a great product. It was sold as a used unit but it had everything in it to set up. It was like new. Shipped and received extremely fast. I live in a rural community and I had it within 2 days even though there was a holiday when I ordered it. I couldn't be happier with the business that sold it to me or with the product. Great job everyone!

small in size, easy to connect, I am always connected
easy connect and works wonderfully, so much less than leassing the router from my service provider.
