I've been playing one of the black Maui Xaphoons for 3 years and love it. To see one of the gold ones for a price that is a little under the price of the black one is fantastic! If you have never played a reed instrument, you will have to develop an embouchure which takes a good month if you practice a few minutes per day. It's easy to learn, but not easy to master, which is true of any good instrument. Many people are very poor at playing in tune on the xaphoon, either because they don't know how to keep a steady embouchure, or they have not trained their ears well, but If you are a serious musician, you will love this little gem! Review: Works much better than the higher priced ones - I would like a longer version but its pretty nice. One of the better mini saxs ive tried. The mouth piece is oddly shaped but you do get used to it. I would have liked to use a more normal shaped one nonetheless. Overall, it sounds nice.

Great sound and versatility with the chromatic scale. Usable range 1.5 octaves from C to F. The fingering patterns and required mouth/breath control are challenging but manageable for wind instrument players. Not for beginners.
