Great Product! Cheap Price!!!!
Im gonna have to give this winch 5 stars.... I usually dont even write a review for stuff I buy on amazon and I must say I buy a lot. I ordered this winch with 2 day shipping and received it in 1. I have a winch bumper made by shrockworks and while this wasnt the easiest thing to install... It was one of the more easier thing's that I have installed to my 2010 4runner trail edition. I took my truck 2 days later to rausch creek in north easter PA. Had a great time until I was teatering over a rock under 2 feet of mud! haha Needless to say we pull out the winch cable and tied it up a medium sized tree. a couple of short bursts on the winch and I was out of the mud. It was almost too easy! Now when I ride I will keep the activator switch hooked up before I enter an area and keep it in the window so I can control it. I will say one slightly bad thing about this winch package though.... I need 4 slightly longer bolts as my winch bumper has thick steel right in front for where it sits... Went to Lowe's and picked up 4 of em for 5 bucks... not bad. Got some lock-tite as well so it NEVER comes un-done. Bought this with 2 bud built shackles(very nice and cheap aswell), and a high-lift jack for around 50 bucks which is a great price. and works realy well! One last thing... this winch obviously isnt a warn... but if your not doing expeditions across Antarctica then save yourself 800 bucks and buy this heavy duty- highly reliable winch... You'll be happy you did!

A Good winch, and good price when purchased on a sale.
After using the winch now twice, I figured I would give my opinion so far. I like the capacity for sure. I used it on the last run. The hand held remote is big and sturdy feeling, but the snap back of the momentary switch for in and out was so strong it actually reversed the direction. This can be avoided by not just taking my finger off, but actually moving back to the neutral position, but since it was unexpected, it was a safety concern for me (safety is my Master's Degree, so I think about those things). The winch main unit is good with a very useable design and simple operation. Nothing fancy there.Overall, a good winch, but there were flaws. The overall size of the winch is smaller than the old XRC8, and that is a plus. Overall, probably 4 out of 5 tires (a 4x4 scale).

Great winch for the money
Have used it at least a dozen times between self recovery and recovering other vehicles. It resides on my Land Rover usually loaded down with gear. Heated up once and it stalled. Let it cool for a couple of minutes and it got me over the obstacle. Has always fired off whether I'm in Moab in July or a down pour on a 10,000 foot peak in CO. It's Not a $1000+ winch. It's an entry level winch as described. I've had mine over 4 years now, still working, nothing broken. It's been drowned a few times through deep river crossings and has always worked when needed. It will stall now and then if pushed. Let it cool down a couple of minutes and it will be back to work. I've never had an issue contacting superwinch. They've been prompt to get back to me. Take the bad reviews for whatever you think it's worth. If your looking for a decent winch under $500 this is it. You want a faster winch with a nice lasting paint job, spend over a $1000 on one. I have no ties or connections to Superwinch. Just used their products over the years and believe them to be a good, reputable company.

. Happy with this purchase
I needed a reliable winch at an inexpensive price for my older jeep that I use for periodic off-reading. I need the winch to get to a relatives camp, In a very remote part of Northern Michigan. Because of the rough terrain , clay mud, etc., a winch is a must. I've use this for times in the last month and it worked flawlessly each time . The free-spool is as easy as any winch I've ever owned and I've owned a number of them over the years. The cable practically spools off itself and takes very little effort to pay out line. From my from my previous experience with much higher quality winches , I would not recommend this winch if you are going to use it regularly and heavy duty applications . I just don't have the confidence at this price that it will hold up under continuous heavy use . If you are looking for an inexpensive winch for occasional use, this is a good purchase

Pretty good Winch for a great price.
Purchased this for my 2016 Jeep JKU, Wasn't sure to go with this 8,500 or a 9,500 winch. Decided on the 8,500 as it weighs around 22 lbs less than the 9500 at around 72 lbs. Going to replace the wire rope with synthetic rope to save a little more weight plus it is safer. Should be more than enough to get me out of just about any situation I might get into. Very easy install as the solenoid is already placed and wired on the side of the winch. Just had to bolt it to the front bumper and run the wires to the battery. I didn't use the supplied hawse as I already had an aluminum one on my bumper, The supplied one is painted black and is pretty heavy. Connected the remote control and it started right up. Looks to be nicely made.

works well a lot of pulling power
works very well other than remotes get water in them and has to be replaced if you use when raining

With amazon.ca's free shipping and the attractive pricing this heavy duty winch is a "best buy". I'm a professional wildlife photographer and placed this winch on a heavy duty 2 inch hitch mount. I often drive into trouble spots, making a rear mount winch more useful than a front mount. Add a reliable ground anchor and this winch will put you back on high ground. The 94 foot long wire-cable is a life saver often making the use of ground anchors unnecessary. For a quick install, I use high quality 20 foot long (#2 gauge wire) jumper cables. These provide a quick full power emergency connection to the battery. I keep the battery cables, tree straps, gloves and other accessories in a compact zipper bag. The Superwinch 1570 Cover I ordered with the winch, fits perfectly.

Great winch. Has pulled my Dodge Dakota out of 3 foot deep mud. Needs a strong battery for best pulling power. Weatherproofing on winch itself has held up well over two years outside and in rough service as a farm truck. The remotehandle, on the other hand, is not so great. The cord is a bit short, so its tough to operate from the drivers seat when the winch is mounted to the rear of the truck. The wiring has shorted out in muliple places and needed to be replaced. It was a simple 10 minute job, but the original wire died when the truck was block deep in the mud and the sun was setting. Remote wiring aisde, the winch has pulled me out of every jam and has been reliable. If I was buying again, I might go for the synthetic rope as you need to keep some gloves around to handle the steel cable.

Item meets expectations and operates as described. Looking forward to see it in action by pulling my boat back in my boat house this autumn.

Yes this thing is big, if you want to make your buddy's envious of a great quality winch it's the cats meow. I'll probably never get to use it's full potential, as what I've done so far could have been done with a 4000 lbs winch but having this capacity I'll never worry about it
