As for effectiveness, these work just fine. They are not as convenient as the electric powered units, but are very reasonably priced. However, if you are storing your wine in the fridge, the one setback is they add a lot of additional height (more than a bottle plug). So, if your refrigerator doesn’t have appropriate height on shelves, I would move on. Also, if you need to do more than a couple of bottles, you may want to look into the rechargeable varieties.
