So gross
If you are a neat freak you will have quite a bit of work keeping this shiny like new. I don't bother with that because I'm likely to break it trying to clean it to any acceptable level. My guess would be to try and find a brush strong enough to scrape off burnt fat (cheese, oil), but softer than aluminum. I just pick off the bigger chunks and always put it in the oven while I'm preheating it for cooking off any germs etc. Mine looks gross, but yours will too. I made the mistake of cooking chicken nuggets on this thing. The breading stuck everywhere and it was the only time I put it in the sink and used a nylon dish brush and warm soapy water. Most of the chunks and bits came off but the stains did not. It's kind of like the seasoning on cast iron, but not in any kind of way necessary or desirable; yet it is inevitable, and for those of us gifted with the ability to not FREAK OUT ABOUT EVERY LITTLE THING, it's tolerable, provided you give it a soapy scrub now and then, keep the big chunks off, and bake it "clean" in the oven after every use. I still gave this a high score though, because I already knew these cosmetic issues would happen and I'm pleased overall with how it works for baking pizza as if it were directly on the oven rack. This is definitely not for people easily turned off by stains and spots, and obsessed with being able to keep their cookware looking brand new. For the rest of us, jump in, the water's fine.
