We own several sets of wheat straw plates for our kids, and have been satisfied with those for a few years now. However, I tried out this bamboo set finally and was blown away by their amazing surface feel, and their sleek, always-new look. They are rated to be top rack dishwasher safe, so I have been washing them in the top rack of the dishwasher without any sign of wear whatsoever. They look as brand new as the day I got them, whereas the wheat straw dishes I own have gotten scratchy and kind of a pebbly surface over time. They are incredibly sturdy (no give at all) and just the right size for a preschooler's dinner, with the high walls to keep it all INSIDE. On the whole, I'd recommend these for any time you don't plan to microwave a small dish of food. The colors are really cheerful and bright, like Crayola crayons, not like a cheaper imitation that only looks good in photos. This is the real deal.

**UPDATE: after contacting WeeSprout, the owner promptly reshipped us the plates (and cups) and appogized for the breakage, stating it shouldn't have happened. They advertise a lifetime warrenty on the purchased set and they stuck to it happily. Size and design are just right. Will update how the replacements do after some time passes) Original review: We ordered the set of four (plates, bowls, cups) for our four toddlers. They can rinse their own dishes while helping Daddy or Mommy and the size, weight and colors are perfect. Love that they each have their own color. Sadly, after 15 days of use, the pink plate was thrown off the table by our one year old and broke in half. He has tossed his on the floor before (white one) without breakage, but tossed our daughters today and it cracked in two.

We’ve been using the WeeSprout bamboo plates, bowls, and utensils for our toddler and overall really like them. The weight and aesthetic are beautiful, and we appreciate the clean, non-toxic quality of the materials. Customer service truly stood out — one item arrived broken, and they quickly shipped a replacement with no hassle, which we really appreciated. We tested the plates, bowls, and utensils on the bottom rack of the dishwasher and had no issues, which was a big plus for us. However, durability is where these fall short for toddler use. Our toddler dropped one of the bowls, and it partially shattered, which was disappointing and honestly a major downside. They are not microwave-safe, but we knew that going in and understand given the material, so that wasn’t a dealbreaker. Overall, these are well-made, attractive, and thoughtfully designed products. If your toddler is in a heavy “drop everything” phase, you may want to keep that in mind.

Plates are sturdy, good size, and my daughter loves the colors. Great customer service - one plate arrived broken. I emailed them late in the evening on a Friday, expecting to hear back sometime the following week. Instead had a response waiting for me when I woke up. They immediately shipped out the replacement set of plates with no need to ship back the initial set (which is great - because the whole reason I ordered online was because I don’t have time to go to the store to physically purchase- so not having to find time to return the broken set was a breath of fresh air)
