This fuel filter came in the red and white Motorcraft box, so it is OEM. I saw specs on a forum that indicated that the Motorcraft OEM filter has excellent ratings (something like 5 microns and 98% efficiency for water absorption--from memory a few wees ago). These ratings beat the Donaldson by a couple of percentage points. I trust Donaldson, and since this filter is as good or better, I decided to get it. I can't speak to the review that says Racor makes the OEM filter. Mine was labeled Motorcraft. This FD4596 fit perfectly. My old filter was an aftermarket Wix with built-in lid, so my truck was down for several days until I got a replacement cap. Local Ford dealer had a cap for over $62. I found the exact OEM cap at Riff Raff Diesel for $19.93. It looks exactly like the one I got from the local dealer (and then returned). Very happy with this filter and feel good that my engine is well protected. If you need a tool to remove and install the fuel filter cap, I highly recommend the OTC 6760 Fuel Filter Wrench (here on Amazon).
