Adhesive Strips Compatible with iMac Intel 27" (2012-2019) - Repair Kit

At this point I’ve applied this adhesive set and have now removed it due to a loose connection after sealing up the iMac. Now being on both sides of the install/removable process I can give a better review. The adhesion is great, definitely superior to Apple’s stock adhesive, this held of much better and was more difficult to remove than stock. It was also easier to clean up & remove and residual adhesive with alcohol. The stock apple adhesive required a lot of cleaning and scrubbing with alcohol to remove it. I purchased another set of this adhesive after fixing the loose connection and will be applying it soon. Make sure to clean any/all old adhesive before applying new, this will ensure a great seal.

These worked great. If you want a quality product made for the job, get these!

Very good product.I followed the instructions on Ifixit website and was installed in short time.The most important part is to remove all the glue residue from the old one, make the surface on the edges of the computer housing and the edges of the back of the screen are completely free of glue residue and take your time , don’t rush, the whole process requires patience, it will paid off in the end.

As most reviewers have commented just take your time both removing glass and reinstalling. On two of the strips the tab came off so had to “fish” strip out with tweezers which wasn’t that fun but was able too with some effort. It’s been a week now and glass seems to be on there solid.

Fits as advertised

After a successful upgrade of the hard drive and SSD in my 2019 iMac I used the iFixit adhesive strips to re-attach the LCD panel to the front of the computer. Everything was great - for a little while. Four days later, I walk into my home office and find a broken screen on my desktop after the adhesive had failed and the panel did what gravity wanted it to do. Looking at the back of the LCD panel and the computer, it looks like the adhesive failed fairly evenly and consistently all around the screen. For extra irony, this happened after I had removed and replaced the screen again because the instructions on iFixit's web site were missing important information about motherboard alignment in the chassis (I submitted a correction, and was not the first person to note the issue in the comments).

I was opening up my 2017 27" iMac Retina 5K to replace the hard drive with SSD. One of the parts I bought came with a different brand of adhesive strips, but the reviews were often pretty negative – the adhesive didn't hold. The friend who was helping me with this project had also used that brand a few months before and had warned me to buy only the iFixit version. The other brand lost adhesion and his monitor fell forward, with only the monitor power and data cables to keep it from completely crashing and cracking. I trust iFixit – it was their how-to that we were following. So I decided to trust them in this. It's been two weeks now, and it's gotten both pretty hot (80-84 degrees) and humid (60%+) in my home office. For the first few days I kept painters tape around the corners to be safe. The I removed the tape from the top corners and waited. I finally felt comfortable enough to remove the tape from the bottom corners today. I feel like I can be confident the strips won't lose adhesion and the glass won't fall. The peace of mind alone is worth the extra money I spent, and the other brand strips that are now sitting in a drawer until I decide to get rid of them.

These work well and have strong adhesive.

Un poco más caras que el resto de marcas genéricas, pero hacen impecablemente su chamba. Si eres novato como yo lo fui cuando las compré, recomiendo 100% este kit. Si ya empiezas a tener práctica, recomiendo buscar cintas de 5mm de doble adhesivo.

Cumplieron cabalmente mis expectativas estas adhesivas, buen producto.!!

Las cintas no soportan el peso. A la semana la pantalla de mi IMac se rompió.
