They seem a little over priced for what they are. But, they do work great for a personal lock on LOTO box at work.

I bought this for locksport, and boy was it a doozy! For the price you really can’t beat the challenge this lock offers up. Seriously, you’re getting 6 pins—all security, both spools and serrated—in a paracentric keyway. For under $30 that’s a great deal. And it’s a dead core, which is a nice change from most of my practice padlocks. It’s not going to have the nice UX of an American 1100. Yes, the body is plastic and feels cheaply made. But in terms of skill-building, it is a great next step. And again, at around $15 at the time of writing, you’d be hard-pressed to find something this challenging at the same price point. Side-note to all the enthusiasts wondering why this is the lock Master put the higher-security core into: it’s probably for liability reasons. Most of their 4-pin cores are such low security that, were they to be deployed in a use case like LOTO (so an abundance of the same make/model locks being used in situations where personal safety is at risk), the possibility of one person‘s key opening another person’s lock becomes both more likely and more dangerous than in a typical security use case.

This lock has a great core! It is very difficult to pick. The body is crap. It could be easily broken. For a tag out lock, this is weird. Maybe they think the good core will stop the dumb*** we all work with from accidentally opening it with the wrong key, but isn't that the point of all locks? Either way, this lock works perfectly for what I'm using it for but I just can't get past the cheap plastic body.

Love the lock; used it for securing a Minkota Trolling Motor - Rip Tide Terrova (Salt Water). (I) the shackle is stainless steel unlike most hardened steel / boron alloy shackles which rust out in salt water, (ii) the key decider was the shackle thickness, thus is almost a perfect fit for the small openings for the trolling motor mounts, and (iii) the body is polymer - the lock is designed for reliability in harsh industrial environments. One funny note which anyone family with LOTO will be aware of is IT COMES WITH ONLY ONE KEY… I thought this was and error :-) But of course, with LOTO, you ONLY want one key… can’t have someone unknowing opening your lock. It’s a feature. Love it.

For those of us in the Locksport Community, we all know Master Lock is the butt of a great number of jokes because their products are truly horrible. However, this padlock is a rare exception. This lock is NOT designed to withstand physical attacks; the body is made of plastic. However, with a 6-pin core containing all security pin drivers, it's great practice for those looking to sharpen or maintain their skills with spool and serrated pins. My attached pictures give you a look inside the lock. The lock housing is not designed to be opened; the plastic body is sealed. I broke mine open along the seam line and then super-glued it back together. The plug has a standard Master Lock keyway but because the entire core is relatively small, maneuvering your pick can be a little tricky due to limited space. Also, this is a dead core meaning there is no spring tension on the plug. Precision tension therefore becomes very important which is more great practice. My lock (and I assume yours will too) contained 5 spool drivers, 1 serrated driver (having two spaced out serrations), and 6 standard key pins. For prices in the single digits, you just can't beat this lock. Now, if someone could only talk Master Lock into pinning ALL their locks this way... [***WARNING*** ] The opening in the plastic body through which the key is inserted is warded so that when turning the key to unlock it, the key (and therefore the plug) will only rotate 90 degrees before stopping. After successfully picking this lock, DO NOT rotate the plug anywhere near 180 degrees. Stop at 90 like the key does. The reason for this is because if you rotate the core 180 degrees, all of the key pins in the plug will fall out inside the body of the lock. You will then be forced to either throw it away or crack it open and re-pin it. You can see in one of my pictures what the lock will look like once you crack it open if you pick it and rotate the plug too far. All of the key pins are laying loose in a recess.

can't comment on their utility as actually LOTO lock applications besides that dollar for dollar, you can't find a better core for the price as these. i've bought a few and none were "easy" opens. occasionally stats align and build tolerances work it out such that within the same exact production runs of locks you'll occasionally get one that's oddly simple to open, and another that makes you questions what happened to the skill set you believed you could make pretty straightforward work out of this plastic lock that won't open for you seemingly for anything you are throwing it's way. I'd reccommend buying a few, make sure they're keyed differently (usually are given the LOTO application) that way you really are sure to make these the best training tools you can find for under $20. Say word son.

I bought this lock because it was a recommended great training piece from guys in the lock sport community, which I’m new to. I’ve mastered all the store available locks but this one’s frickin tricky! I’ve had it over a month and still haven’t had success picking it. Try it out!

Master loto lock if your ordering this you probly know about it already genuine product well worth it. Plastic body hard to pick great product

Does exactly what it says on the box. If you are looking for something to lock up stuff (instead of safety tag out/I'm working here) I would go for a different lock. Main reason is the plastic lock body that can be broken fairly easily, and then everything falls apart.
