I have narrow vertical lines in my nails and they tend to snag and break easily. I used to do my own acrylic nails many years ago….i wanted something that would be easy to use without the need to constantly do fills. This gel is perfect for what I wanted. It fills in ridges and hardens within a minute in my vu light. It does have a sticky feel to it, but with a wipe of polish remover, it comes off clean. Easy to shape if need be. Love this stuff!

I'm teaching myself gel nails and this product has been working really well. It's quite thick and stays put for building the nail, but also brushes out smoothly for the base coats. I'm figuring it out as I go (aka I have zero technique) and I haven't had any problems with bubbles in my application. Using the same nail prep as I'd use for acrylic (dehydrator and no-lift nails primer), the initial application is a week old with no sign of lifting. The description is a bit misleading, it says, 'very flexible to bend and move'. I can only assume they mean in the uncured state, because the 2 minute UV cured layers build up into a rock-solid nail. The gel self levels and is easy to file into shape. I'll purchase again.

I do my own gel manicures at home and sometimes I find that the gel polishes out there are a little on the thin side. The gel polishes don't keep my nail strong enough and they will break once they get too long. I wanted to try a builder gel, but I was worried about the application since I'm not a professional. This thing works great! I put on my Gellish UV base coat, then two layers of the Mia Secret Formagel, then 2 layers of a gel polish, then my Gellish UV top coat....BOOM...DONE. My nails feel strong, they grow faster, and they don't lift/peel/chip. These are a little harder to remove. Soaking off takes forever. I just soak them to soften them, scrape off the polish, and i'll use a high-grit nail file (100/180 grit) to file the rest down. The builder gel is also a little difficult to use since it's so thick, but I found applying a very thin layer and curing at a time to work best. It might feel streaky, but it pretty much evens itself out which is nice. Careful not to get it on your skin because it burns super hot when it's curing.

I'm not a licensed nail tech, I just love doing my own nails and have a fair amount of education. I'm new to using builder gels- this pic is of my 3rd set using Mia's Secret (and I have a lot to improve on!) This builder gel cures beautifully in my LED lamp (by Sensationail, 24 watts I think). Fully cures in 60 seconds, flash cures in 5 seconds, cures rock hardans shiny, and I have had only a few lifted areas. I also use Mia's Secret acid-free primer which is AMAZING! This gel has a thinner viscosity so you must build your extension in several thin layers, not in 1 or 2 thick layers like you can with a thicker viscosity gel. I would compare the consistency and performance of this to IBD builder gel. My only complaints are that it gets very hot if you don't flash cure before the full cure, and if you apply too much at once or too close to the edges it will flood your cuticles like crazy! I would recommend this to a beginner because it self-levels beautifully, just flip your hand upside down and it creates a perfect apex for you! And because you'll use thin layers flash curing in between it's also much easier to get a nice c-curve with gentle pinching. I've purchased several colors of this Mia's Secret builder gel and overall I really like them, esp the clear. I'm excited to try their acrylic system and gel polishes next. ***UPDATE This is my 3rd time purchasing this clear builder and it never disappoints! I have been regularly doing a natural looking French mani- i mix this clear with a drop of white gel polish to make a semi-transparent white that looks like a natural nail tip color. To cover any imperfections on my nail plate I use a base layer of the Mia's secret pink builder, then do the extension tips with the white mix, then build the apex and shape with the clear. Perfect french mani every time!
