Great price, Great knife
I've gotta be honest, I was really on the fence about this knife. I really wanted the knife that this one is based off of but I just could'nt justify the price difference for it. I went to the local hardware store and looked at the other guys' knife through the glass but never got to handle one. I was beating myself up about it, trying to justify the costs when I noticed this Imperial Schrade clone. I figued for the price if I wasn't crazy about it I would just tuck it away in a drawer or tackle box. As soon as I slid it out of the cardboard, I knew this was gonna be my new daily carry. For some perspective, I usually carry a Buck Stockman that I've had for years. I still love that knife but like I said, this style really just caught my eye. This knife has a solid open position and a snappy closing. The blade is pretty close to center when closed and the edge was fairly sharp out of the box, the geomtry is a little off but nothing that can't be worked out with a stone. The fit in my hand is really nice, damn near the same dimensions as the stockman, just a bit slimmer, a hell of a lot lighter as this is a single bladed knife. The only realy negative I have, and it's pretty trivial, is there is definitely a little rubbery oily smell to this knife. It's the handles, their made out of some kind of plastic compound that is off-gassing. It's not terrible but it's noticeable. If you're even considering this stlye of knife, you really can't go wrong with the Imperial.

Can’t beat the price and holds edge decent.
I love to whittle and this is a sweep little knife that holds an edge remarkably well I bought several more and have them stashed away just in case. Can’t beat the price

Move over case sodbuster there is a new game in town
These things are hands down insane! So so worth the money. Handles are so smooth blade is super sharp and with a minute of stropping its hair popping. The crazy part is I have a case sodbuster and I like this better !!! It’s almost identical but it’s just slightly smother and more ergonomic! These are absolute work machines. At the price of a snap blade disposable box cutter. I now have the black and the yellow and carry these in my rotation for edc but reach for these in the morning before going out the door more than my case knives. These things are just beautiful. It’s honestly worth the price of a case sod buster. Will open boxes and packages and slice cardboard cut packing straps and skid wrap all day long. I’ll hit it on a strop for 30 seconds and blade is shaving sharp again for the next few days.

Comparing Sod Buster week #1.
4 starts per day 3. I bought this knife to compare against my Case sod buster (1st case ever.) Keep in mind both knives are still brand new to me and the Case I bought in carbon steel for the patina it will gather. The Case is crunchy to open compared to how smooth the Schrade is and the Shrade’s handle is thinner and the edges are tapered. It feels like a better knife overall but I cannot vouch for either’s steel. Both sharpened up to scary ‘nuff for daily tasks. Time will tell.

Okay... What did you expect from a $7-8 knife?
First off, I never got the one I purchased from amazon, and got my refund. Later on I did find one in a sporting goods store and here's what I think of that one: Out the box, the knife is EXTREMELY tight, and hard to open. It comes with quite a dull edge, and had no blade centering what so ever, in fact it touches the logo side of the handle. Cheap little sodbuster, easy to sharpen and holds a decent edge for 3cr13 steel, but not for long. You can also see grind lines all over the blade. Being a cheap knife, fit and finish is horrible, but functional. This has become my city carry knife, and travel carry knife, if I have to throw it out, so be it, only $7-8. It would be great for Taylor brands to add a lanyard hole for ease of carry, for getting it out of my pocket. Anyway, worth the cash if you can sharpen a knife, and don't mind a knife with a few factory flaws. =========================== UPDATE: So it's been a bit over a week since I've bought this from Dick Sporting Goods and sharpened it myself. I happen to need to return an Amazon rental book today so I used this knife to cut some duct tape and regular packaging tape. On the last few cuts, it was getting hard to cut through the cheaper clear packaging tape. So from razor sharp (2000 grit waterstone/whetstone then stropping) it takes about a week or two for this knife to become somewhat dull. All I used it for was cutting some cardboard boxes, string off my clothes, tape, and paper. Still a usable knife, just a heads up, gotta sharpen this thing real often.

Great traditional style sod buster like knife for 8 bucks
One of the best deals you can get in a sod style knife. Be it the large or the Jr they are crazy good traditional style knives for 8 bucks or so. The only better deal you can get in a sod Jr style knife is the Marbles Mr579 it has smooth white bone handle scales instead of the plastic that these have and can be had for around 8-9 bucks as well and it has a snapper action with a half stop and sadly these do not have a half stop. The 7cr17mov these knives are made with performs very much alike to case Tru-sharp stainless they are both fairly low performance stainless steels so don't expect much edge retention from either BUT the edge retention is plenty serviceable for what you will be using this knife for and it touches up so easily on a diamond loaded strop and or a ceramic rod. Shockingly the heat treatment isn't bad on this steel and it sharpens nicely as a result. If these had a half stop they would be awesome, it's my only complaint with the IMP22 series of knives. The large one has a flat grind and the Jr has a hollow grind in case you are wondering however the hollow grind isn't very deep and the grid angle is fairly obtuse so they are around 22 thousandths of an inch behind the edge, not the greatest cutting geometry but not bad so they will slice OK, case Sod Jrs are definitely thinner behind the edge so if you want the best slicing performance you will want to get the case Soddy Jr but these are great for the money just don't expect them to have laser beam like cutting geometry.

Eigentlich ein schönes typisches Taschenmesser. Leider etwas klein geraten und nicht so ganz super verarbeitet.
