The third ring offers a whimsical glimpse into the future -- or at least a future from the POV of the mid-20th century -- with a plethora of zany postwar inventions. While none of the cartoons "of tomorrow" foresaw smartphones or DVD players, these far-fetched contraptions, gadgets, houses and farms, televisions, and various modes of transportation could only come from the madcap mind of Avery and his M-G-M crew. Uncut, restored and remastered in High Definition for the first time, Tex Avery Screwball Classics Collection Volume 2 is another must-own collection from the master of hand-drawn mayhem. -- JERRY BECK, Animation Historian Review: Great Blu-Ray of classic cartoons!! - Classic cartoons!! Great Blu-Ray!! Review: Hilarious and brilliant still - Great nostalgia rush at seeing these old cartoons in crisp blu-ray.

Buy this now, you won't regret it.
This review is for the Tex Avery screwball classics blu ray volume 2 which was just released December 15th, 2020. As a child in the 70's,80's you probably watched these old rerun screwball cartoons during Tv cartoon time and did know, realize, or even care a storied animator named Tex Avery made these. When I got older, I finally researched and learned all that Tex Avery was responsible for and his contributions, which are too many to name here. I already bought volume one on blu ray last year. I just finished watching this volume 2 blu ray and let me tell you, I just relived my childhood in splendid, crisp technicolor like never seen on this blu ray on my 75" 4k Led tv. Sound was simply amazing. The cartoons on this volume 2 are all what I consider the "Biggies' of the Tex Avery world. Volume one had a few less and more obscure shorts compared to this volume 2. I have not seen these in decades. Just to name a few on here, "One cab's family, flea circus, little rural riding hood, all the house, car, TV, Farm of tomorrow's", droopy dog and more! and even my favorite "Magical Maestro' with Poochini. uncut And yes these are all uncut as they put a warning at the beginning of the blu ray. Apparently, some of these were still shown here and there in the 90's, but they had some some parts edited out of them when they were shown apparently for our delicate, every perceived thing is offensive/everyone is a victim generation. Baloney, Not here. These are the way I saw them as a kid. Do yourself a favor and add this to your collection. Tell a friend to buy one too. Warner will add a volume 3 at some point, which I will be buying every release.

Second volume has some quality work needs such short falls.
Tex Avery was an essential part of the creation of the greatest cartoons of the 20th century. Heck, he helped turn it into an art form. Warner Archives did a great job with the first volume of Avery cartoons on Blu-Ray. The transfers looked great with just the right amo*n’t of restoration and clean up. Not so Volume 2. Some classic titles here and some that look terrific others look too digitally processed with derail removed by the over zealous use of Digital Noise Reduction. Managing grain with older films can be a tricky business—manage it too little it you can have grain the size of hams in the image; manage too much and detail is lost along with a plasticine look to the imagine. The audio is very good. There is a pretty good documentary on Tex included here as a nice special feature.

Good release. Keep 'em coming!
Very happy that Volume 2 came out after I enjoyed Volume 1 so much. Not disappointed in this release at all. I've seen some reviews nitpicking on some technical aspects, but in the grander scheme of things, these issues can be overlooked. To be honest, it's been so long since I've seen some of these, that I lost my basis for comparison. Some of these cartoons do look a little darker than I remember, but can't say that any are "ruined' or unwatchable. In general, I found them all to be of fairly decent quality. There is one bogus review out there saying that Magical Maestro was edited and censored. Not true at all. All of the cartoons are uncut and unedited. There is still the "product of their time" disclaimer at the beginning, so it makes no sense for them to censor now. All of these cartoons are very enjoyable. I recommend getting this volume if you appreciate the cartoons of this era. Also, we should buy these volumes in order to prompt Warner to produce more. I figure there are enough Tex Avery cartoons to make at least one or maybe two more volumes, so let's send the message to Warner that we want more.

Little Rural Riding Hood (Sept. 1949) 2. The Cuckoo Clock (Juni 1950) 3. Magical Maestro (Feb. 1952) 4. One Cab`s Family (Mai 1952) 5. The Cat that Hated People (Nov. 1948) 6. Doggone Tired (Juli 1949) 7. The Flea Circus (Nov. 1954) 8. Field and Sream (April 1955) 9. The First Bad Man (Sept. 1955) 10. Out-Foxed (Nov. 1949) 11. Droopy`s Double Trouble (Nov. 1951) 12. The Three Little Pups (Dez. 1953) 13. Drag-along Droopy (Feb. 1954) 14. Homesteader Droopy (Juli 1954) 15. Dixieland Droopy (Dez. 1954) 16. The Counterfeit Cat (Dez. 1949) 17. Ventriloquist Cat (mai 1950) 18. The House of Tomorrow (Juni 1949) 19. The Car of Tomorrow (Sept. 1951) 20. T.V. of Tomorrow (Juni 1953) 21. The Farm of Tomorrow (Sept.

I have been anticipating the release of Tex Avery’s Screwball Classic Vol. 2 ever since the release of the first volume in the hope of more to follow and so far I have not been disappointed as these classic cartoons are so hilarious they deserve to be in anyone’s collection who is serious about collecting classic cartoons or who is a fan of the king of cartoons Tex Avery. As he stood out among his fellow animators of his day mostly dealing with adult audiences with one goal in mind that he would do anything in his cartoons for a gag. I am hopeful that Warner Archive will eventually release the complete library of Tex Avery’s Screwball Classics on Blu-Ray in the near future.

Volume 2 of the Tex Avery MGM shorts on blu ray are sharp and clean and still funny no matter how many times you watch them. I have heard reports that some remain censored due to insensitive racial issues of the 40's and 50's, but I looked at the cut cartoons on the DVD format first and can confirm that the blu ray has restored certain previous cuts with a warning at the start of the disc. Volume 2 has no Screwy Squirrel or George and Junior, but Droopy is still there in one of my favourites, DRAGALONG DROOPY. Tex at his best. Another top cartoon is THE CUCKOO CLOCK, with its wonderful Edgar Allen Poe beginning. The nameless cat who stars here, is in three other cartoons:- COUNTERFEIT CAT, VENTRILOQUIST CAT, and the nicely surreal THE CAT THAT HATED PEOPLE. Spot gags feature in the four "Cartoons of Tomorrow" that focus on a house, cars, TVs, and a farm (the weakest one). The bonus is a Tex Avery documentary, which is vital if you are not too familiar with all of this great animator's work. There are still 25 cartoons left for a third blu ray release, and it would be fantastic if they included them all, without leaving out the ones missing on previous sets, like UNCLE TOM'S CABANA, and HALF-PINT PIGMY.
