On line reviews were positive, so I bought one. Installation was a breeze and it is very smooth in operation. There is a small amount of rotational slop, but not noticeable when riding. It is slightly heavier than some other brands, but I'm not counting grams, so it is fine for me. I would buy again. Review: Nice dropper post! - It works great and I'm so glad to add this upgrade to my bike! This will be a game changer for the changing terrain. It is very responsive to the trigger and works well. Feels sturdy and if I get 2 years of use out of it, it will be well worth it!

Good affordable dropper seat post
I upgraded my 29er to include a dropper seat post as I was going to ride some tough terrain in Moab, UT, but I did not want to break the bank to do so. This post was the perfect solution. As I could not do true internal cabling, I had to use a dropper post with external cabling. You can use mid-post valve as I did or at the top. I felt the mid-post provided the most elegant solution and no cable movement. The installation of the post part was easy. The cable routing a bit trickier as I was able to put part of it through my downtube. My bike has a front derailleur so the trigger type and positioning is super important as it has to go right beside the front derailleur thumb leversbut leave clearance to move everything. I ended up placing the dropper post thumb lever between my brake & derailleur levers to give me the best access. It does work quite well. The only issue I ended up having is that I made a mistake when putting the cable stopper into the post valve. I did not seat it correctly before I put the cover on. As a result, I installed and cut the cable, then tested it to find that the post did not drop. Upon opening the post valve cover, I saw my mistake and corrected it. Unfortunately it tightened up the cable which I had pulled out to access it. Super tricky but I did manage to get the cable back into the sleeve, and most difficult into the tiny hole for the lever to clamp down. Don't make the same mistake as it took an extra hour to fix it! Wait till it all tests ok before cutting to size the cable. Then leave enough room on the cable to crimp a cable end so you don't have frayed cable wires poking into your thumb. All good now and I love the post's smooth operation.

High quality, smooth actuation, affordable
This is my first hard tail mountain bike which I bought brand new. I love my bike but there was just one downside, it doesn’t allow for an internal dropper post. I took a big chance and purchased this Trans X external dropper post. I also bought the Trans X Lever (which includes the cable and cable housing). When the parts arrived I packed up my bike and drove to my local REI and paid a very small fee to have the experts install this dropper post correctly. Let me tell you, they did a fantastic job and this dropper post is great! I can tell it is made with high quality materials and there is barely any wiggle from the saddle. The actuation from the lever feels strong and responsive and the 170mm of travel is awesome to have. I HIGHLY recommend that anyone considering an external dropper post gets this one! (don’t forget to purchase the Trans X lever) Great product!

Great dropper post!
This dropper is legit!!! Practically the same as PNW’s droppers (I own both). The technology is identical and the strength is as well. You’ll need to purchase a lever if you want this dropper. However, Tranz-X has an option where a lever can be purchased with this dropper and it’s easily the best deal in the Market! I’ve seen levers alone go for $60+ (which is tough). What’s the difference? Basically a lever that can match the color of your bike. THAT’s IT. If you want to go all out on that, pay extra for style. If not, stop right here and have the same technology and functionality. I own both droppers. Bought this one for my son’s bike. Both perform exceptionally well. I am now a fan of both Tranz-X and PNW after this purchase. Cheers!

Installs easily, works as expected.
I like the simple external cable routing. Some other cheaper dropper posts have the cable connection point directly under the seat, meaning when the seat drops, the cable gets tangled up. This dropper has the connection point near the seat tube, and it doesn't move when the seat is dropped so no tangled cable. I chose the Crank Bros. dropper lever, it cost a little more but was a nice fit for my BBSHD eBike conversion, and doesn't interfere with the thumb throttle next to it. Works smoothly, as expected. Glad I got the 170mm version, it was just right. The dropper makes it easy to get on/off the bike too.

After a 55 year hiatus, I purchased an MTB (2022). I've had a hip replacement and have knee issues and riding was a little painful. I installed the dropper post in June 2023, and what a game changer for me, only the odd knee pain now, and my riding experienced has improved immensely. More fun and enjoyable now. I did use the PNW Puget lever.
